2. What Do We Do?
• support faculty-mentored student research/creative
activities during the academic year and summer across
all disciplines
• provide student stipends and supply funds for mentors
• provide undergraduate student travel support to
conferences
• assess student learning through research
• support the development of undergraduate research
courses (R-course)

• Receive $500-$2,000 in supply funds
• Explore new, high-risk, low cost areas of research
through pilot studies

them for grad school

4. Co-Curricular
• Students engaged for 25h/month during the
AY (October –April) and 40h/week during
summer (June-July)
• Students receive $1,000 during the AY and
$3,200 in summer
• Student application deadlines:

5. CRL Programs
• Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Institute
(MURI):
Mentor and student teams from more than one
discipline; faculty submit project proposal for review
and approval by CRL prior to building student team
Requirements: at least 2 faculty mentors from different
disciplines; 4-6 UG students with no more than half of
them from the same discipline
Proposal submission deadline:
for summer: January 25
for AY: July 1

6. • Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP)
One-on-one mentoring; student submits project for
approval by CRL

7. Diversity Programs (GPA requirements)
• Diversity Scholars Research Program (DSRP)
Freshmen, continuing and transfer students from
historically underrepresented populations receive
generous financial and academic support and are
expected to continuously be engaged in research
until graduation.
• Diversity Scholars Intensive Research Experience
(DSIRE): open to rising juniors with previous
research experience; open to all underserved and
underrepresented student cohorts

9. R-course Development
• Annual awards of $2,500 for R-course development at
100, 200, and 300 level
No application deadline
• Consultation on R-course development (including NEH
funding opportunities)
• Access to online course “Research as a Transferable
Skill” to supplement in class courses and research
programs

10. Upcoming workshop series on R-course
design
• 3 x 2h meetings in Feb. (overview, resources),
March (student assignments/tasks), April
(assessment)
• Redesign of existing courses/development of new
courses that align with faculty scholarship area
• Sharing of best practices
• High quality revised course syllabi will qualify for
R-course development grant
