81. Quebec Bridge
On June 15, 1907 an inspecting engineer noted that two girders of the anchor was
misaligned by a quarter of an inch. Cooper called this a "not serious" problem. In
the inspection report in August, 1907, it was noted that the girders had moved out
alignment a bit more and "appeared bent". Although this condition was a bit more
concerning, the work continued.

Today the suspension bridge reaches a free span of almost 2000m (Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, Japan) while its cable-stayed counterpart can cross almost 1000m (Tatara Bridge, Japan, Normandie Bridge, France). Cable-supported bridges therefore play an important role in the overcoming of barriers that had split people, nations and even continents before. This cultural aspect is not less important.

SUMMARYThree soldiers of the 701st Tank Destroyer Battalion advance a tank destroyer mounted with three inch guns along a mountain road located, according to the caption, in the Mount Terminale area. The 701st was attached to the Tenth Mountain Division during the Italian Campaign. In the background are shelled buildings, a partially completed Bailey bridge, with five soldiers standing on it, as well as (according to the caption) a Sherman tank out of action.
