2. Introduction
Throughout one's life man
has many teachers:
Of all teachers parents are
the ones who most
sincerely try to be our best
teachers; the ones who
even when they make
mistakes or are wrong do
it with good intentions.
3.
4. Introduction
Parents’ guide their children
through the primary stepping
stones of life. Little, but
important, things such as riding a
bike or eating with a spoon and
fork are up to the parents to
teach.
They are also responsible for much bigger
lessons like the difference between right and
wrong and, essentially, how to make the world a
better place and not generate danger. It is the
parent’s job to teach morals to children.
Therefore, if the child is a minor, the parents
are morally responsible for their children’s

8. WHAT DO YOU TEACH?
Ethics and Moral Values
Ethics, also called moral philosophy, the discipline
concerned with what is morally good and bad and
morally right and wrong.
Moral Values can be defined as any activity that
involves making judgment that requires the use of
values.
While “morals” are our own sense of what is right and
wrong based on the individual and collective
experiences that link us as a society.
9.
10. BENEFITS OF MORAL VALUE TO
CHILDREN
1. IT BUILDS THEIR
CHARACTER
Knowing good moral values
such as kindness, humility,
courage, and compassion
at an early age builds a
child’s character. It forms
the very core of their being
and becomes a foundation
of their moral beliefs.
11. 2. IT HELPS THEM TELL RIGHT
FROM WRONG
Some children usually can’t
tell which things are
considered morally right and
which aren’t. Remember, they
absorb everything like a
sponge. When they do
something wrong, and no one
bothers to correct them, they’ll
start to think that it’s perfectly
fine to do it again
12. 3. IT CHANGES THEIR PERCEPTION OF
THE WORLD
When children can tell what is
right from wrong, they can also
determine the good from the
bad. This helps shape their
perception of the world. A child
who has a strong moral
compass will not just stand idly
by when an injustice is
happening. They will take action
to correct it in whatever way
they can.
13. 4. It Determines Their
Adult Behavior
A famous verse from the
Christian bible says:
“Train up a child in the way
he should go, and when he
is old, he will not depart
from it.” (Proverb 22:26)
This is a reminder that the values
you teach your children today will
determine how they will behave
when they become adults.
14.
15. 5. It Counters Bad Influence From
Peers
Peer pressure – we’ve all been there.
It’s normal for children and young
adolescents to look up to their friends.
From clothing styles to music choices,
peer pressure plays a significant role in
these decisions.
But according to studies, children who
feel good about themselves are more
able to resist negative peer pressure.
Also, children who grew up with
strong moral foundations are more
secure in themselves. They rarely feel
the need to follow the trend, making
them less likely to give in to bad
influences.
16. 6. It Helps Them Cope
with Difficult Situations
One of the most pressing
concerns that our youth face
today is depression. Stressful
situations can throw some of us
on a downhill struggle. But it can
even be more severe for
children, especially those who
haven’t had much adult
supervision in their lives.
Teaching them to distinguish
good from bad helps them make
better decisions. This, in turn,
gives them the courage to cope
with difficult situations.
17. 7. It Boosts Self-
Confidence
Doing good things help
children feel good about
themselves, like when they
volunteer at a soup kitchen or
donate used clothes to the
poor. That exhilarating feeling
of being able to give back and
help others is not exclusive to
adults. Children feel it too. This
self-affirmation helps boost
their self-confidence which, in
turn, helps them develop
positive relationships.
18. 8. It Teaches Them to
Think About Others
Teaching kids responsibility
at a young age helps them
figure out their purpose in
society. They will realize that
the world does not revolve
around them and that they
have a duty to their fellows.
This will teach them to be
more selfless and put the
needs of others before
themselves.
19. WAYS TO INCULCATE MORAL VALUES IN
OUR CHILDREN
1. Practice What You
Preach
Children learn from the
people around them, so in
order to teach your kids good
values, you must model them
in your life, first. You may
verbally explain numerous
values, but your kid will only
pick up the ones you
showcase through your own
behaviour.
20. 2. Narrate Personal
Experiences
Personal experiences are like
stories, and all kids love
hearing stories. Share stories
from your own life, where
abiding by a moral value had
a positive experience in your
life, and your child is bound
to understand better.
21. 3. Reward Good Behaviour
Come up with a system,
where you reward your
child for using these values
in his/her life. Praise and
rewards are positive
reinforcement that works
incredibly well in shaping
children.
22. 4. Communicate Effectively
Converse with your child,
each day, about how these
moral values work in day to
day life. For example, you can
discuss an article in the
newspaper and ask your child
what he/she would have done
in the same situation.
23. 5. Monitor Television and
Internet Use
There’s no escape from the
television and internet, but
you can definitely monitor
what your child watches.
Make sure the show
promotes good values and
morals, and is appropriate
for his/her age.
24. 6. Respect
Many parents make the
mistake of teaching their
children only about respect for
elders, but that is wrong.
Everyone deserves respect,
regardless of age or social
standing. Respect is an
essential moral value that your
child must know about at a
young age, as it plays an
important role in his/her
behaviour around strangers
and elders.
25. 7. Family
Family is an integral
part of kids’ lives. It
shapes and nurtures
them into adults.
Therefore, it is
important to give your
children a sense of
family and help them
understand why family
is important
26. 8. Adjusting and
Compromising
It is important that children
know that not everything
works according to them.
Teach them from a young
age that when it is absolutely
necessary, they may have to
try and adjust. Your child
must be taught to adjust and
compromise, only if their own
life is not at stake here.
27. 9. Helping Mentality
Your child must be
taught to help others
from a young age, even if
it may be a complete
stranger. You have to
teach your child why
helping others is so
important and how you
always get it back when
you help someone.
28. 10. RESPECTING RELIGION
Your child should be brought
up, not just to respect his own
religion, but also to understand
that every person has the right
to choose his/her religion.
Teach your children, from a
young age, that all humans are
equal, regardless of their
religion or the festivals they
celebrate.
FAMILY THAT PRAYS TOGETHER
STAYS TOGETHER
29. 11. Justice
A moral compass and a
sense of justice are two of
the most important values
that any child must have
from a young age. Your
children must always be
encouraged to speak up
when they perceive a
wrongdoing, for their own
benefit or for the benefit of
the others.
30. 12. Honesty
From a young age,
honesty should be
instilled as one of the
most important values for
kids. Honesty is always
the best policy, and your
child must be encouraged
to tell the truth regardless
of whatever mistakes
he/she may have
committed.
31. 13. Never Hurt Anyone
Explain to your child that
hurting someone is not just a
physical problem- any hurt can
have a psychological and
emotional effect as well.
Remember to teach your
children how to apologize and
encourage them to apologize
immediately if they ever hurt
someone, either physically or
verbally.
32. 14. Theft
Theft is wrong, no matter what
the justification behind it may be-
this is one of the good values for
children. Teach your child that
theft is a wrong thing, not just
legally, but also morally as well,
as it means that he/she will be
taking something that belongs to
someone else.
33. 15. Cultivate Love for
Education
Education is the biggest
weapon one can have, and the
thing that has the most impact
on where you end up in life. A
love for education must be
cultivated in the child, right from
preschool, and you should also
try to get your child to
understand the importance of
education in life.
34.
35. In Conclusion
Our children are the future, what we make out
of it depends on the quality of ethic and moral
education we deliver to them.
Education is the only thing that changes
everything.
Let us embrace good and proper education
starting with parents as their first and most
important teacher.
