2. Rob is a young 18 year old boy who lives with his Grandma after the death of
both his parents in a car accident many years ago.
The only real happiness in his life is found in the form of his girlfriend, Alice (
play on Alice in wonderland), whom he has been in a constant relationship with
since they were 13
Rob and Alice often undertake the purchase the low class drugs ( cannabis) from
a dealer named Daryl, nicknamed mad hatter, this establishes the connection with
the drug dealer.
On the way to their 5 year anniversary, rob arrives early and contacts Alice via
mobile to find out where she is, during the mobile conversation she loses
concentration and inadvertently walks in to the road, only to be struck down and
killed. Rob listens to the whole accident while on the phone, yet is stuck with the
realisation that he cannot help her.
3. After attending Alice‟s funeral, and visiting her grave, Rob comes across the
previously mentioned drug dealer, who after some conversation about what has
happened, and seeing that rob is severely traumatised by the event, invites him
back to his apartment ( that he has named wonderland) and then pressures him
into taking a hit of heroine
While on the high, rob experiences visions of a beautiful place where he catches
a glimpse of Alice. It is from this one glimpse that his addiction emerges, as he
his determined to revisit this “wonderland” and see the person he most loved in
his world. Due to the constant desire to return to this wonderland rob turns to
crime in order to fund his drug habit ( muggings and petty theft, bag snatching)
More of the film will be dedicated to the time when he is „high‟, with him
incurring various visions of Alice ect.
As he is constantly in the presence of “mad hatter” they appear to become good
friends, and towards the end of the film, “mad hatter” realises what he has done
to rob, and in an attempt to help him, he refuses him entry into wonderland, and
no longer provides him with the drugs he desires.
4. In a bout of extreme rage, fuelled by the necessity of his addiction, Rob kills the
dealer, thus extinguishing his only route to wonderland, and therefore terminating
any chance he has of seeing his girlfriend again. Shortly after this event, we see
that Rob can no longer cope with his severe addiction, depression and the guilt he
feels for murdering his own friend, and thus he decides to take his own
life, ending the film.
5. Our inspirations are a mix between
Trainspotting and Alice in
Wonderland.
Trainspotting was our main
inspiration because of the drug
addicted lifestyle; Mother Superior is
connected to „The Mad Hatter‟, in the
way that they bring the addicts
together to their one place of
solitude, their apartments, where they
can get their desired fix of drugs.
Mother superior is also seen to care
for his “clients”, much like “mad
hatter” eventually shows care for
Rob.
6. Alice in Wonderland fits in the
storyline because of the fantasy world
Rob finds when taking heroin. There
will be times when we frequently link
our film to Alice in Wonderland,
generally through the use of small
sub-hints. This will be done through
the Queen of Hearts card appearing
within the apartment, as well as
cutlery used within the tea party and a
top hat appearing at the top of the
table.
7. Here are a couple of trailers that have influenced the way we have constructed are
plot idea.
Trainspotting
The trailer focuses on the harsh reality of drug addiction and how it can
dramatically change the way people live their life. Our trailer story will aim to
depict this.
8. The genres we linked this with were drama, romance and fantasy.
Drama is related to the world Rob gets himself into, with his drug addiction
becoming a barbaric part of his short life.
Fantasy comes from Wonderland, the one place where Rob fills happy.
Romance is the connection between Rob and Alice and something present within
Rob throughout his quest to find her.
9. 18+
British audience.
No specific gender target.
Aimed at lower social classes; prejudiced social classes are more likely to
be involved with drugs.
10. We aim to base the trailer within a number of
key locations. Though the trailer is based on
the idea of a „wonderland‟, we will be
demonstrating how he will get to this state of
mind.
The Main Locations will include;
-A wood which will the main place of
„Wonderland‟
-A room which be shown as the drug dealers
„apartment‟.
-Graveyard where he will be after the funeral of
Alice.
11. Here are the job roles we will be undertaking for the trailer. Balancing out
everything equally will hopefully result in everyone being utilised to their
potential.
