2. What is Food Week?
• Food Week is WVU’s effort to promote the local
resources that our school and community can
offer you- the Mountaineer!
– WVU will host an event each day on Evansdale
campus to promote eating REAL food
• Food Day is a national celebration of
healthy, sustainable, affordably produced food.
It builds all year long and culminates on
October 24th
• Food Week is open to ALL WVU
Students, faculty, staff, and employees!
3. Monday October 21st
Food Movement: Pour-One-Out
• Where: Towers PRT station
• When: 12pm-4pm
• Why: To promote students cutting-back on
sugary drinks like energy drinks, soda and
Gatorade.
• Each student that pours out their sugary
drink- receives a free bottle of water! Every
bottle that’s poured out, is recycled to support
on-campus sustainability!
4. Tuesday October 22nd
Food Documentary: Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead
• Where: Agricultural Sciences Building
1001
• When: 7pm
• Who: Hosted by the Student Association
of Nutrition and Dietetics (SAND)
• Why: To educate the campus on current
issues in health, food, and nutrition.
• We are encouraging students to donate
canned food items for the feature film
5. Wednesday October 23rd
Support Your Local Farmers Market

Where: Towers basketball court
What: Local WV farmer’s produce
When: 9am-1pm
Why: To offer locally grown produce to the
WVU campus
6. Thursday October 24th
Food Day- Get Real, Eat Real Dinner

Where: Towers Blue & Gold Room
When: 5pm until the food runs out
Price: FREE
Why: to promote the real food that’s available to
you- on-campus! Join us for free food, prize
giveaways, cornhole, and more!
7. Friday October 25th
Faculty Pumpkin Carving Contest
• Faculty interested in registering for the contest should
email wvusand@gmail.com for more info
• Pumpkins are due by Monday Oct. 21st, 2013 at 5pm
– They can be picked up at a faculty teacher’s office -or– Dropped off in AGS-E 1020
• Pumpkins will be on exhibition in the AGS-E lobby
display case throughout the entire week of Food Week
• Students, faculty, and staff vote in the ballot box next to
the display case throughout Food Week
• Winners announced on Friday Oct. 25th
• Winners receive a prize and bragging rights!
8. Friday October 25th
Faculty SNAP Challenge
• Who: Open ALL WVU faculty and staff
• When: Mon Oct. 21st – Fri Oct. 25th
• Contestants eat for 1 week, as if receiving benefits from
WV Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
(SNAP)
• Participants must document all food purchases, via
photos and post to WVU Human Nutrition and Foods
