Contest!
As you noticed,T.R.I.A.D. does not have an official logo! Please
submit your artwork by Monday, 31 March 12:00 A.M. either in
person (during the meeting) or electronically.

9. CraftTalk
It has been decided that we will have these two events before the end
of the semester:
T.R.I.A.D.Craft NightApril 27th 6-8pm (Same Location)
All inclusive
There will be snacks and drinks
Bring any craft you want; we will provide limited craft supplies . If
you’re not interested in crafts, just come and socialize!
T.R.I.A.D.Clothing Swap will be at the end of the semester (May
10th).
Allies, please donate any unwanted clothing, and ask your friends to
donate too!

10. Gender 101
Sex:The structure of a person’s external and internal reproductive
organs (hormones and chromosomes).
Gender:The state of being “male” or “female” in reference to
social or cultural differences rather than biological ones.
Intersex:An individual who possesses sex characteristics that are
not exclusively male or female (hormones, chromosomes, sex
organs, genitalia).
Cisgender:An individual whose gender identity and biological sex
are the same.
Trans*:An overarching term to describe individuals who fit under
the trans* umbrella.

Trans*:An umbrella term that includes, but is not limited to, all of
the following:
Drag kings and queens
Transsexuals
Transgender
MTF and FTM
Genderqueer
2 Spirit (culturally exclusive)
Third gender
Agender (gender neutral)
Intersex persons

Gender Identity: A person’s conception of their own identity.
Gender Expression:The performance of one’s gender and how it
is communicated to others.

Etiquette
Use Preferred Gender Pronouns (PGP)
Don’t out anyone as trans without their permission. Always ask.
Correct transphobic behavior, don’t just refrain from it.
Don’t overstep your boundaries. Don’t speak for anyone.Check
your privilege.
You will slip up! Don’t beat yourself up and don’t linger on the
subject. Apologize and move on. If you want, talk to them in
private.
Don’t see your trans friend as your trans friend but as your friend.
Just remember that we’re all people just like you!

“So why didn’t you just stay a man/woman?”

“When did you decide to be a transgender/transsexual?”
“How do you have sex?”
“I can still see the man/woman in you.”
