2. Why a call to action?
Unconsciously expected by your reader as part of the
conclusion
The finale for your article
Your ideas and concepts need to guide your reader to the
conclusion that your offer is the best answer, solution or
information

3. Example
“Now that you’ve seen that my product is more effective
yet cheaper than everyone else, why not enjoy the benefit
by clicking Buy now.”
“If you’re convinced that this can make a difference in your
life – and I’m sure the research I’ve shown you is pretty
tight – why wouldn’t you invest today? Click Buy now.”

4. Are all call to actions the
same?
Different depending where your potential customer is within
the sales process:
They’re meeting you (through your blog) for the first time
and so are sort of a “cold” lead
They are a warm lead, so already very interested in your
product or service
Somewhere in between

5. Different levels
You can apply a call to action at different levels
Hard sell
Leaving no doubt that you’re trying to sell, this applies undeniable pressure
on the buyer: “you are crazy if you let this opportunity go – particularly since
it may not be around tomorrow!”
Soft sell
Give the reader all the facts that lead to an undeniable conclusion that your
product / service provides the best answer, solution or information: “if
you’re looking to start a business with all these qualities, you should
probably look at XYZ”
Subtle
Provide a content rich article that doesn’t include a call to action, but place
it on a page where there is a convincing banner ad that includes a call to
action. Good for blogging because it allows you to be seen providing
valuable content without “flogging” a product, but still gets readers to see
the convincing advertisement

Editor's Notes
When using a blog to promote your business, product or service, you MUST include a call to action. Why?A call to action is like the finale of an article. It is what any good sales article should be leading up to.Thinking with your business hat on, the purpose behind writing a blog is to get your reader to consider or buy your product or service. It’s the finale they will be waiting for subconsciously. It’s actually a bit weak if you don’t give them a finale. A bit like a limp handshake.Imagine a story about a couple in the 1800s who have just lost their last coins to some highway robbers. They’re stuck on the road when a “Robin Hood” character travels past and takes pity on them. He listens to their story, gets angry for them, and decides to fights for their cause. Through a series of encounters, the Robin Hood hero finds out where the bandits are, gets ready to confront them, and then …walks away. You’d be a bit disappointed if reading this story, right? After all, what was the point of all those earlier adventures? You knew subconsciously from the logical flow of events what the finale was going to be – a bow and arrow shoot out between Robin Hood and the band of robbers. But you didn’t get it.
A call to action tends to be different depending where your audience is engaging with you through the sales process. For example:They’re meeting you (through your blog) for the first time and so are sort of a “cold” leadThey are a warm lead, so already very interested in your product or serviceSomewhere in betweenYour blog needs to take that into account when planning your call to action.
At any rate – regardless of how you do it – you need to make sure you include a call to action in your blog if its purpose is to promote your business or a product or service.
