People colonized other places for bad reasons like capturing slaves and stealing land and resources. For example, Spain colonized parts of the Americas to capture slaves and steal land. As a result, many in Latin America today have mixed European and Native American heritage. England also colonized what is now the US, stealing land and bringing women but not Indian slaves as Africans were used as slaves instead. Colonized peoples often adopted the colonizers' language and religion. Globalization has continued colonization's spread of Western culture, threatening the loss of traditional cultures.
