People colonized other lands and peoples for exploitative reasons like capturing slaves and stealing resources. For example, Spain colonized much of Latin America to capture slaves and steal land, resulting in mixed-race populations like the Mestizos of Latin America today. Similarly, England colonized what is now the United States, stealing land and bringing women but not enslaving Native Americans and instead using African slaves. Colonization spread the colonizers' languages and religions to the colonized and ultimately led to the globalization that is gradually eliminating traditional cultures worldwide.
