8. The key verse,Acts 14:17
17 Yet he has not left
himself without
testimony: He has shown
kindness by giving you
rain from heaven and
crops in their seasons; he
provides you with plenty
of food and fills your
hearts with joy.
10. Lesson outline. Part 1. Acts 1.Paul writes
toTheophilus
•1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that
Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until the day he was
taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the
Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. 3 After his
suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many
convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to
them over a period of forty days and spoke about the
kingdom of God.
11. Lesson outline. Part 2. Paul Preaches at
Rome Under Guard. Acts 28
17 Three days later he called together the local Jewish leaders.
When they had assembled, Paul said to them: “My brothers,
although I have done nothing against our people or against the
customs of our ancestors, I was arrested in Jerusalem and handed
over to the Romans. 18 They examined me and wanted to release
me, because I was not guilty of any crime deserving death. 19 The
Jews objected, so I was compelled to make an appeal to Caesar. I
certainly did not intend to bring any charge against my own
people. 20 For this reason I have asked to see you and talk with
you. It is because of the hope of Israel that I am bound with this
chain.”
12. Lesson outline. Part 3: Acts 18. Ministry to
Jews and Gentiles
• After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. 2 There he met a Jew
named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with
his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul
went to see them, 3 and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he
stayed and worked with them. 4 Every Sabbath he reasoned in the
synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.
• 5 When Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, Paul devoted himself
exclusively to preaching, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah.
6 But when they opposed Paul and became abusive, he shook out his
clothes in protest and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am
innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”
