2. The most of aviators fought against
Germans before, when they protected
Warsaw and France. The squadron
officially began on 2nd August 1940, but
their first victory happened on their
training flight on 30th August 1940.
All people in squadron were Polish, except
the Czech one - Josef Frantiśek.

5. End of 303 Squadron
„Never in the history of wars so many did
not owe so many to so few” - said
Winston Churchil (then premier of Great
Britain) about Polish pilots.
But on London parade of victory in 1946
none of Polish squadrons were invited,
excluding ,,303”, but they decided not to
come.

7. Interesting facts
Today the tradition of the 303 Squadron continues 23rd
Tactical Air Base in Mińsk Mazowiecki.
The custom of flyers in ,,303” was wearing a scarled scurfs.
Many Englishmen were not satisfied with the presence of
Poles in the army, which they did not hide and showed
their disgust. However, when the news spread about the
country's victories, they gained a social status equal to at
least the pop stars, and men, often those who protested
before accepting the 303 Squadron to the RAF began to
tear women into a crippled Polish accent. Usually with
weak effects, but the intent is what counts.

8. Further fate of pilots
Officially, the squadron was dissolved in
1945, December the 11. The Poles could
not return to their homeland because
the current authorities considered them
to be criminals and were ready to arrest
or even "clean up quietly". Therefore
some of the pilots decided to emigrate,
some of them would train young RAF
pilots.
