• Take the SAT or ACT – if needed
• College visit days
• Apply online (or paper) to colleges
• Search and apply for scholarships
• Complete the FAFSA (after 01/01/16)
• Pay class dues ($20 for senior year)
• Continue to make good grades
• Enjoy your senior year!
7. Applying to College
Step 1: Decide to which colleges you will apply.
Step 2: Apply online (preferred by most colleges) or
by using a paper application.
Step 3: Locate the high school recommendation form
if required.
Step 4: Request transcript from Ms. Bishop
Step 5: Return to guidance to pick up your materials.
Step 6: Mail your required materials.

• Wednesday, October 7
• Lunch until the end of the day
• No appointment needed
• Students will receive help filling out applications

• Scholarships and grants
Gift aid that does not have to be paid back
• Loans
Low-interest and paid back over time
• Student employment
On-campus jobs that the college assigns to offset
the cost of attending

• Federal Programs
Such as Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, Perkins Loans, Parent
Loans for Undergraduates (PLUS)
• State Funds
State Scholarships Programs (such as LIFE, HOPE and
Palmetto Fellows) , SC Tuition Grants, SC Need Based
Grants, Lottery Tuition Assistance (for two-year institutions)
• Institutional Funds
Money available through the college’s own sources such as
private endowments used for academic, athletic, fine arts
awards
• Other sources
Such as military, corporate, foundation, organization and club
sponsored scholarships
