2. Language Arts/Social Studies
•One Million Word Goal -Fifth grade students are required to read 25
books a year. One book is equal to 150 pages.
•Weekly Book Log- Students are given a Weekly Book Log each week.
Book Logs will be due every Monday. This will allow your child to log in the
books they read each weekend. Students are expected to read 30 minutes
daily as part of their homework assignments.
•Achieve 3000 COUNTS towards the 30 minutes daily. The articles on
Achieve also count as 10 pages towards your child’s reading goal. They DO
NOT have to log these though. I will be able to count their pages when I
review their usage. Please visit http://www.duvalschools.org/domain/5286
•Vocabulary/Spelling tests will be given weekly. The words will be
programmed onto SpellingCity so that your child may practice at home. The
student username and password for this wonderful site is Snyder306.
•Homework – Homework will be assigned every Monday and due every
Friday unless otherwise indicated.
3. Remind / Class Dojo

• TEAM Dojo: Please join ClassDojo so you
can stay informed. Please write your name
on the list so that we may print you an
additional invitation. Students are also
welcome to join and even have their own

4. Math
Homework- Assigned daily, including most weekends, and
expectation for due date is the following class day. All assignments
are due no later than the end of the week. To help your child
progress please assist them by reviewing their work. Ask them to
explain their math answer by having them verbalize their thinking.
This may help them discover and correct their own errors.
iReady – This is a program that students use to practice the math
standards. Your child should be able to log in. Please visit
http://www.duvalschools.org and select the “Blended Learning”
folder in the Popular Links.
Weekly progress is tracked, for both number of minutes on
task and number of lessons completed with a passing score.
Testing- Most of Math testing will be computer based this year
including end of module assessments. Fifth grade students will take
the Math FSA in April.
