Jude
Presented by the Community of
Saint Albert Priory
2. Located in St. Dominic’s Church in San Francisco,
California, the Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus pays
homage to the patron saint of difficult and
desperate causes. Founded in 1935, the Shrine of
St. Jude is a form of preaching by mail, in which
devotees of St. Jude submit their prayer intentions
to the Shrine. The Shrine office maintains contact
with these people, requesting that they join with
the Dominican Fathers in offering prayers,
especially the periodic Novenas of Prayer for a
specific cause.
3. Once initial contact is made, most recipients
remain in contact with the shrine’s office. The
number of prepaid replies received at the office
points to a deep interest in devotion to St. Jude,
the Apostle and martyr whose intercession is
believed to aid in lost causes.
