  • 2. INTRODUCTION “ Do you agree with me when I say that we, Filipinos, are a loving people? “ Yes, we are! For love is the main reason why OFWs are now working abroad” “ OFWs want to give better future to their loved ones”
  • 3. INTRODUCTION “ But is it not ironic that OFWs and their families are now separated physically because of this love? “ How then can OFWs come home so that they are back together with their loved ones once more?” “ The key is through reciprocal love by the members of the family of the OFWs”
  • 4. Map to Financial Freedom “ Wealth is having the money to fund one’s lifestyle at any given time” %
  • 5. Do OFWs and Families Save?
    • Education of their children
    • Buy house and lot
    • Buy a vehicle
    • Buy home appliances and other personal items
    Yes , they do!
  • 6. So, can OFWs now go home? No, not yet! Because most OFWs do not have enough funds yet to cover for their coming home Perhaps some of the OFWs are still paying debts
  • 7. Set Financial Goals
    • Put in Writing
    • State it in Positive Terms
    • Set Specific Timeframe
    • Monitor Progress
    Examples: - To have P 2.4 Million at Age 50 which will earn P240,000 (10% interest) so that I (an OFW) can come home.
  • 8. Become Debt-Free
    • Eradicate Bad (unproductive) Debt
    • Say “No” to Credit Card Debt!
    Good Debt “ A good debt is an instrument of growth” Borrow money only to generate income when the earnings is bigger than the interest of loan
  • 9. Ca $ h Golden Rule: Pay Ourselves First! Income – Expense = Savings Income – Savings = Expense    X X X (WRONG FORMULA) (CORRECT FORMULA) Remember: For an OFW , savings is not an OPTION , but an OBLIGATION! (Create a Savings Habit)

  • 11. Ca $ h When Spending, Always Ask, (Create a Savings Habit) Do I need it or just want it? Needs are necessary for survival Wants are things you desire but can live without

    • Standard of Living is raised
    • Supporting Extended Family
    • Procrastination (Mamaya na!)
    • Instant Gratification
    • Fear Factor (Risk Profile)
    • Poor Spending Habits
  • 13. Invest $ avings Where to Invest?
    • Real Estate (Apartments)
    • Start Your Own Business
    • Pension Plans/Pre-Need Plans
    • Banks: Time Deposits (5-Yr)
    • Bonds
      • Government, Corporate, LGU
    • Stock Market
    • Mutual Fund/UITF
  • 14. Invest $ avings Evaluate Investment as to: “ The higher the return, the higher the risk!”
  • 15. How to do it? “ Start saving even with small amounts and do it regularly” In the event we succeed, let’s share our success with others. Form Savings and Investment Groups Among members of the family, friends, neighbors, OFW Assns.
