Bruno Wang - Art
1. The Pure Land Foundation sponsored the award-winning, Fernando
Gonzalez-designed Pure Land Foundation Garden at the 2015 Royal
Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show. Bruno Wang believes
gardens reconnect us with nature and that nature reconnects us with
spirituality, helping us to remember who we are and better understand
our place in the world. The organic shape of the Pure Land Foundation
Garden’s landscape was inspired by nature's rhythm and aimed to evoke
Chinese scholars' rocks. The soothing garden was an urban oasis
designed for contemplation and meditation. Fernando Gonzalez’s
extraordinary yet effortless creation, using innovative design and the
latest fabrication methods, created a sense of wellbeing and positive
energy that provided a breath of fresh air to the show.
2. Bruno Wang is a Trustee of the China Art Foundation.
Established in 2008, the Foundation aims to ensure that
the global interest in contemporary Chinese art and culture
can be sustained for the long-term future, thereby greatly
improving the exchange of knowledge and understanding
between China and the rest of the world.
3. Bruno Wang is a patron of the Victoria & Albert Museum,
the world’s largest museum of decorative arts and
design. In 2014, he sponsored Masterpieces of Chinese
Painting 700-1900, the largest and most important
exhibition of Chinese painting in the UK since 1960. The
exhibition brought together the finest examples of
Chinese painting from the beginning of the 8th century to
the end of the 19th century. Many of the works had never
before been seen in the UK.
4. Bruno Wang is a Patron of the
British Museum and was the main
benefactor to the Museum's 2014
restoration, display and permanent
housing of the Admonitions
Scroll (Admonitions of the
Instructress to the Court Ladies), the
oldest Chinese painting in existence.
Bruno Wang sponsored the
commission of the calligraphy
work Hall of Ink Fragrance by
renowned Chinese calligrapher
Fu Shen, which hangs in the
museum above the Admonition
Scroll. Fu Shen wrote the three
monumental characters as a title
especially for the museum.
