The assessments for this module will be divided into two separate parts.:
PART 1 – Chinese Business Pitch Percentage of grade: 30%
Format: Group presentation Time of presentation: 15 minutes
PART 2 – Feasibility Study Percentage of grade: 70%

Assessment Description- Group Work
Description:
Students will be placed into separate groups (maximum 4 students per group).
AIM
To work progressively over the term to identify a business opportunity in China and make a pitch to
their ‘Board.’ (The other members of the class will play the part of the board.).
The presentation must attempt to persuade the Board to allocate funds and resources to the business
opportunity.
Each group will be given 20 minutes in which to convince the Board.
At a minimum, the presentations must answer the following questions:
1.What is the opportunity and what makes the Chinese market the right place to pursue it?
2.What are specific things that should be considered when pursuing the business opportunity?
3.Are there any cultural considerations that should be considered?
4.What are any challenges that will have to be overcome?
**NOTE: Each member of the team is expected to contribute to the ‘Pitch,’ the format of which must include a presentation as well
as sufficient time for the ‘Board’ to ask questions.
All students in a group will receive the same group mark for this assessment

Assessment Description - Individual Work
Students will work independently to identify a consumer goods company that is not already
engaged in the China market.
Students will write a feasibility plan to bring this company to the marketplace.
Requirements and steps:
1. Submit a brief oral proposal for this feasibility plan to the class during one of the workshops (no
later than the fifth week of the term).
2. They will then receive feedback on this proposal from the class as well as from the tutor.
3. Based on this feedback, they will submit a short written proposal (1000 words) to the tutor, who
will then approve the proposal, or provide written feedback to amend the proposal.
4. Once approved, the student will research this company, and write the feasibility plan.
The plan must include information on:
• Operational feasibility
• Economic feasibility
• Market feasibility
• Cultural feasibility
