PM Modi on Tuesday pitched for a “strong partnership“ between “India's
lion“ and “Germany's eagle“, saying Delhi and Berlin would prosper together.
Germany's coat of arms features the eagle while the lion is the logo of the
`Make in India' drive. At a joint media interaction with Chancellor Angela
Merkel in Berlin, Modi said, “Yesterday in Hannover, she (Merkel) accepted
the invitation of India's lion to raise the level of Germany's engagement... I
believe there will be a strong partnership between the king of the earth...
and the king of the skies.“ Air India One, a Boeing 747 400 aircraft that
carried PM Narendra Modi from Delhi to Berlin, developed engine problems
and had to be replaced by another plane. The standby plane, kept in
readiness in Mumbai, left early this morning for Berlin and was used for
flying the PM to Ottawa.
