3. Manchester Orchestra.âI can barely Breatheâ In The Music Video For âI can barely breatheâ by Manchester Orchestra there is a relationship between the Lyrics and the Visuals. The Lyrics are about a person running away from their problems and the music video relates to this. The lyrics are layered over the top of the video, which leaves a bigger impacted with the lyrics and visuals. In the song there are lyrics which say âwhen I fly solo, I fly so high, don't touch me nowâ. While this is going on in the music Video the person is taken up by a tornado.
4. In the music Video there is also a relationship between the Music and the visuals but not as much as the lyrics and visuals. There is one part in the song which I think particularly uses the Music and visuals together, in the song the vocals and distorted (4.10) and the song sounds goes messy while this is happening in the music video the girl gets attacked by black birds and I think that this suits the music and the visuals very well.
5. In the music video there isnât any close up of the band because they are on a Indie record label and they donât demand close ups of the front man. The band hasnât develop a stage look in the video so this wouldnât affect their live performance or the star image. Their music video doesnât have a genre to their video they donât have live performances like a rock band would have or dance routines like hip-hop or RnB. I believe there isnât any voyeurism in the treatment of women in this music video and I also donât think there are any intertextual references either. I believe that this is a very well made music video and I really like the style of the Music Video Director with the over lays of the lyrics and textures to add something a bit different to the music video making it an overall good music video.
7. Alexisonfire âThis could be anywhere in the worldâ There are definitely a relationship between the Lyrics and visuals. In the 1st Verse in says âThis city is in distressâ while he is singing this there are shots of him surrounded by fire and other members in water, which they might be distressed by. The Lyrics of âThis could be anywhere in the worldâ is about a city or town is destruction. Some other lyrics are âThis city is hauntedâ The music video has a great relationship between the lyrics and visuals and I think that this music video works well together as the music video brings out the lyrics more and takes the lyrics and puts them into visuals.
8. There is once again a relationship between the music and the visuals. A good example of this is in the bridge there is a pause (3.25). In the music video there is a man falling and when the music comes back in the man hits the water and there is a greater impact. I think that idea is amazing and it really works well with the music video. There is also visuals relating to the music through out the whole music video, this is why I think that this could be the best music video to come out of the Post Hardcore scene.
9. In this music video as itâs a post Hardcore band they have a live performance going on with the music video. The main focus in my eyes is the band with the visuals to make it have an extra something. They have all the members playing and I think that because they are in the rock genre this is why they are playing a live performance. In all of Alexisonfireâs videos they are playing while something else is happening apart from A song called âboiled frogsâ
10. I donât thin that there is any references to voyeurism again as there isnât anyway women in the music video, like there would be in a RnB music video. I do think there is a intertextual reference to the world and how it is going down hill, and maybe even relate to the violence in the world and how all the cities in the world are slowing breaking down, because in the song there are references to cracking cities. I think that it makes you think about how you act and how your city or town is run. It made me think about the crime in my home city and the violence in the world today.
12. William Fitzsimmons âIf you would come back homeâ Once again there is a relationship between the Lyrics and Visuals. This song was about his wife walking out on him and the music video shows him at a broken home. The song is very obvious that itâs about him making a mistake and he wants his wife to come back home with him. I think that the visuals work really well against the lyrics.
13. In this music video there are close ups of the artist but I think this is because William Fitzsimmons is a singer songwriter and that this song is close to his heart so it feel only right if he was the main focus of the music video. It isnât because his record label wants him to have a star image or a certain style to him but because he writes his songs himself and about his personal life.
14. There isnât a relationship between the music and the visuals because I think the director must of focused on the lyrics and visuals. In this music video there isnât a certain style because he is a man with a guitar. He isnât performing live but he is singing through out the music video. There also isnât any references to voyeurism or any intertextual references. I think it is just a simple song about him losing his wife and that he still loves her and wants her to come back home.
