Unit 8. A complaining letter
1. A COMPLAINING LETTER
Dear Sir,
I have always lived in a small town, but some time ago, I’ve had to move to this big capital like
is Valencia for job reasons. I’ve noticed a lot of changes in many aspects but now there’s one
which annoys me in a big way.
I’m writing to complain about those who try to take out all the rubbish the containers got
inside, and so they can eat or find something that protects them from the winter cold. They
are poor people, but sometimes are people that tend to sell those things in street markets!
Firstly I will explain a curious thing that happened to me yesterday. A week ago I threw away
some old clothes to one of those containers which collected this clothing for organizations.
Yesterday I was walking around a street market and what was my surprise when I recognized a
sweater and a pair of trousers that I had threw away last week!
It was been sold by a couple of Romanian. I got very angry because that wasn’t the end I
wanted for my clothes to have! I was really shocked.
In my opinion there should be more invest in urbanism items like those containers that can be
installed under ground. It’s more hygienic because it doesn’t smell and the people can’t take
out the rubbish.
Other point is that those persons who live in the street really need to eat and I think it will be a
good idea to built more social dinning where provide food for them and so they wouldn’t have
to look for it in the containers.
Finally, now I’m complaining, the police could take into account those illegal sellers who are
leaving without clothes the poor people and without work to other clothing sellers.
I know I’m asking you for a lot of solutions but I would like to know if the others readers think
the same as me. If so, I would welcome their comments. If this newspaper wouldn’t exist it
would be a great pity.
Yours faithfully
Cristina Moraga
