4. 1. OFFENSIVE PHASE
4-3-1-2 + 3-4-1-2 = chameleonic tactic
- The chameleonic modification happens
because in defensive phase , the opponents
is always positioned in 4-4-2 or 5-3-2. For
that reason is necessary to have three in
defense, or two central defenders +
defensive midfielder (drops down for the
creation of the construction).
5. GENERAL PRINCIPLES :
- an idea based on ball possession and the
dynamical geometry, where the technical abilities of
the players move to higher level.
- The midfield triangle's dynamics :
1) one midfielder drops down offering support to
the defensive midfielder (4-3-1-2) or at defensive
trio(3-4-1-2) during the construction of the offensive
phase.
6. 2) the other midfielder remains in Zone 2, expecting
a pass for moving the ball in lateral or central
direction.
3) the tip of the triangle , remains between the
opponent's lines in Zone 3 ,expecting a filtered pass.
-The full-backs are always wide and high, offering
lateral insertions and lateral numerical superiority.
-One of the strikers is often wide (Sanchez) and the
other (Vargas) is central. They often attack in depth.
Sanchez ,sometimes drops down in Zone 3 offering
support and changing the play on the other side of
the pitch via long diagonal pass for Isla.

10.
11. ZONE 1 :
-In Zone 1 , they are alway in numerical superiority.
Three players + the goalkeeper. This positional game
helps them to get out of the opponent's pressing and
move the ball in Zone 2.
4-3-1-2 : the central defenders are wide ,and the
defensive midfielder drops down to receive the ball
(fullbacks wide in Zone 2).
3-4-1-2 : Three defenders : two wide, one central +
the goalkeeper.

21. ZONE 2 :
-In Zone 2 centrally , participate the two
offensive midfielders(4-3-1-2) or the double
pivot(3-4-1-2) in asymmetrical way.
-In Zone 2 laterally , participate the two
fullbacks in symmetrical way.
*The objective is to pass the ball between
the lines for Valdivia or laterally for the wide
players (fullbacks).
*The central defenders often try :
1) long vertical pass for the strikers in Zone 4.
2) long diagonal pass for Isla in Zone 3/4.
22.
23. *The central defenders often try :
1) long vertical pass for the strikers in Zone 4.
2) long diagonal pass for Isla in Zone 3/4.
34. ZONE 3 :
-Independent of the system of play, in Zone 3/4 the
idea of play is the same :
1. Valdivia takes care for the passes in depth and
laterally.
2. Lateral insertions of the fullbacks
3. Central and from behind insertions of the
offensive midfielders.
4. Sanchez wide, moving centrally ,tries to find Isla ,
Vidal or Vargas
with long diagonal pass .
5. Vargas always attacks in depth
6. Three players remain on the beginning of Zone 3
to stop eventual offensive transition of the
opponents
68. ZONE 4 :
-They attack with a lot of players (7/8)
-They take advantage of their technical abilities via
short passes and one touch play for dis-balance the
opponent's defense. The game change from one
flank to another is fundamental.
-The striker (Vargas) attacks in depth + the
insertions from behind of the offensive midfielders.

5-3-2 (5-2-3) with man marking

good and helping each other.

*The full backs are marking the wingers.

*The fullbacks take care of the opponent's wingers.
*The double pivot takes care of the opponent's central

110.
111.
112. 5. Against Peru (4-2-3-1)

marking the attacking midfielder.
*The full backs are marking the wingers.
*The double pivot is marking their central midfielders.

113.
114. 6. Against Argentina ( 4-3-3 e 4-4-2romboide)

*Vidal on Biglia, Aranguiz on Pastore, Valdivia on
Mascherano.
*The fullbacks take care of Argentina's fullbacks
*Sanchez and Vargas putting pressure on Otamendi and

*Four defenders with Zonal marking
*Diaz on Messi, Vidal on Biglia, Aranguiz on Pastore,

127. 3.OFFENSIVE TRANSITION :
-Very effective game principle, thanks to the
velocity of the strikers , the creativity of
Valdivia and the insertions from behind of
Isla (laterally) and Vidal-Aranguiz(centrally).

141. 4. DEFENSIVE TRANSITION :
-Like every team who attacks with a lot of players,
Chile also sometimes can suffer this game principle.
But with the numerical superiority in defense ,they
often transform the defensive transition in positive .
