1) Random Samples: Selected by using chance
methods or random number.
2) Systematic Samples: Selected by numbering each
subject of the population and then selecting every k-
th subject.

3) Stratified Samples: Selected by dividing the population into
groups (called strata) according to some characteristic that is
important to the study, then sampling from each group.
Samples within the strata should be randomly selected.
4) Cluster Samples: Selected by dividing the population into
groups called clusters by a particular means. The means of
division might be geographic area or schools in a large district,
etc. The researcher then randomly selects some of these
clusters and uses all the members of the selected clusters as the
subjects of the samples.
