Lesson 11 Homework Review
1. Sarah and Eva were swimming. Use the ratio tables below to determine who the
faster swimmer is.
Eva is the faster swimmer because she swims 26 meters in 1 minute, which
is faster than Sarah who swims 25 meters in 1 minute.
Explain the method that you used to determine your answer.
2. A 120 lb. person would weigh about 20 lb. on the moon. A 150 lb. person
would weigh 28 lb. on Io, a moon of Jupiter. Use ratio tables to determine
which moon would make a person weigh the most.
A person on Io will weigh more than a person on our moon because a 600
pound man would weigh 100 pounds on the moon, but only weigh 112 on
lo.

Ratios and Unit Rates
Topic B: Collections of Equivalent Ratios
Lesson 12: Tables of Equivalent Ratios
Student Outcomes
§ Students create equivalent ratios using a ratio table and represent these ratios on a double number line diagram.
§ Students extend and use a double number line diagram to solve ratio problems related to the real world.

Katie makes 5 rainbow loom bracelets in
20 minutes. How long will it take her to
make 8 bracelets?
Step 1 – Make a table
Step 2 – Identify question
hmm.....can we find the answer on the table????

Step 3 – Make a double number line diagram
· Label both number lines
· Write all needed ratios on the number lines
· Identify the question
Step 4 – Number the number line for the given value using the least amount of units
(number it by ones, fives, tens, etc that fits with the given number to create the least amount of columns.)

Step 5 – Determine the fraction of the other unit we are trying to find
· For example: The number line of the given unit was broken into five sections
· We need to figure out the span of the other number line
· Therefore we need to find 3/5 of 20
· What is 1/5 of 20?

Step 8 – Your Answer!!!!
It will take Katie minutes to
make 8 rainbow loom bracelets.
This answer is reasonable because it falls between the two ratios on
the double number line diagram and ratio table.

EXIT TICKET
Kyra is participating in a fundraiser WalkaThon.
She walks 2 miles in 30
minutes. If she continues to walk at the same rate, determine how many
minutes it will take her to walk 7 miles. Use a double number line diagram to
support your answer.
