Podcasts can be of particular interest in order to promote flexibility in teaching and learning. In our presentation, accompanied by a hands-on workshop, we will share our experience of creating and evaluating the use of podcasts based on projects conducted through CETL ALiC (Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning - Active Learning in Computing) and the TEL Team. In this workshop you will be introduced to podcasts and their practical application in a learning and teaching environment. You will use Audacity software to create your own podcast and then upload it to the podcast server. This will give you the option to make your podcast available for downloading via RSS feed (e.g. iTunes) to your intended audience.

I ran a session for the Broadband for Seniors volunteer network in May 2012, on Adult Learning principles. Not wanting to be didactic about it, i tried to draw in the audience perspective whenever possible. Basically, we started with a classic version of 'adult learning principles' and attempted to connect these abstract ideas with people's daily experiences in the kiosks. This presentation has the audience input on many slides (except one where i was concerned about time.) Overall i found it an amazing session, because of this group participation. There is a recording of the actual session - i'll see if i can link to it from here.

Preston Reservoir Adult Community Education (PRACE) and several colleague ACE providers are investigating the possibility of creating a new flexible delivery system in common, using existing free learning materials. We aim to move gently toward a more social model of learning for information technology and other vocational education & training (VET) certificates.. and also to enable teachers to save time by screencasting their classroom demonstrations.
