By Mike Smith Seriously look at what some consider to be true views of God but are not. Let the Bible instruct your heart on the correct view of things concerning God.
1. False Ideas of God
Unmasking Some
Misconceptions About God
2. Some Think God’s Power Is
Limited To Evolution.
This is inconsistent, for the same God
who could create anything could
create everything. Gen. 1:1
In the beginning (time) God (force)
created (energy) the heaven (space)
and the earth (matter).
◦ God is the answer to creation and not the
theory of evolution.
He did create everything. Neh. 9:6
God is not limited in this area. Jn. 1:3
3. Some Think God Is An
American God.
Think Americans are God’s chosen
people… ???
“Hath made of one blood all nations”
Acts 17:26
God loves the whole world. Jn. 3:16
Jesus tasted death for all men. Heb. 2:9
He will judge the whole world. Ac. 17:30
God’s chosen were called Christians.
Acts 11:26; Isa. 62:2; Acts 26:28
4. Some Think God Is Physical.
He is not just the material creation like
many have thought.
God is Spirit. John 4:24
“A spirit hath not flesh and bones” Luke
24:39
The fact that you cannot see a spirit does
not mean that it doesn’t exist.
◦ Invisible can be manifest in different
ways. i.e., magnetic force, air, God
Romans 1:20; Heb. 11:1,27
5. Some Think God Is Local.
He cannot be confined to temples.
Acts 17:24
Or to localities… Ps. 139:7-10
If man can be in spirit several places
at the same time then how easy it is
for God who is Spirit to be everyplace
at the same time. Hebrews 4:13
6. Some Think God Is Like Man.
Man hides from man; so he thinks he
can hide from God. Gen. 3:8
Man deceives man; so he thinks he
can deceive God. Acts 5:1-10
Man thinks one religion is as good as
another; so he thinks God feels this
way, but He does not! Mt. 15:9, 13-14
7. Some Think God Is A God Of
Confusion,
That He has called one man to deny
what He has called another to confirm.
“God is not the author of confusion”
1 Cor. 14:33
He gave, “one body, and one Spirit,
even as ye are called in one hope of
your calling; One Lord, one faith, one
baptism…” Eph. 4:4-5
God’s word is understandable. Eph. 3:4
8. Some Think That God Is Too
Good To Condemn.
But He is too good to condone sin.
Isa. 59:2; Jn. 8:21
God has done His part to save us.
John 3:16; Romans 5:8
Man condemns himself. Acts 13:46
Man must obey Jesus to be saved.
Heb. 5:9
9. God Is Willing That All Be Saved
1 Timothy 2:3-4
God gives the answers to the question,
“what must I do to be saved”. Acts 16:30
◦ One must hear and believe the gospel.
Mark 16:15-16; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
◦ One must repent of sinful living. Acts 3:19
◦ One must confess faith in Jesus. Acts 8:37
◦ One must be baptized. Acts 22:16
◦ Then continue to be faithfully obedient to
Christ and grow. Mt. 28:20; 2 Pet. 3:18
