Your framework for writing your article critique.

1. Current Event Articles
Newspaper, Internet or Magazine Sources
To receive credit:
A. The article must be about science and be a minimum of 5 paragraphs.
B. The article must include a graphic (chart, table, graph, etc. THIS DOES NOT MEAN A
PICTURE)
C. Important information must be selectively underlined or highlighted in the article.
D. The important information must be included in the summary.
E. Two articles are mandatory for the six weeks. The first article is due on Progress Report
day and the second is due on the six weeks test.
Format for all current event article summaries:
To be written on notebook paper.
1. Title of the article.
2. State the source of the article.
3. Date of the article. (must be within the past year)
4. Explain briefly how this article relates to science.
5. Summarize the article. This should be no less than 5 sentences. Do not plagiarize.
6. Describe evidence of the author’s purpose with the article that proves the validity of the
position of the author.
7. Analyze any drawing or diagram. What are the dependent and independent variables? What
trend is being shown in the data?
8. State your conclusions about the article.
9. Attach the article to the back of your written work.
