1. Ca$$y sat on the wall in his Liverpool estate in his white Adidas tracksuit and fitted cap,
apart from the camera’s taking his picture, he wouldn’t lookout of place with the rest of
the locals.
“I never want to leave this”, Ca$$y, real name Stuart Harper, said in his distinct Scouse
accent, “this is where I grew up and this is where I want to die”, he exclaimed about his
estate in the tough Anfield area of Merseyside.
Ca$$y’s alternative accent to the usual London tone has brought him mass success not only
in the U.K, but across the pond in the states. His sound’s uniqueness has allowed him
opportunities to work with renowned artists, namely A$AP Rocky and Ace Hood. “Of course
it’s nice, uno, being from the block and doing shows in California.”
Despite this success, Ca$$y won’t leave his roots behind, ‘Family’s above everything, don’t
care about money, fame, women, cars, my family and my boys are all that matter for me at
the end of the day. I share my success with them.” This selfless nature shows the morals
Harper, 22, have grown up with.
When questioned about his role models, he took a moment to hesitate. ‘Eh, me mum was a
big figure for us growing up, but apart from that, I’ve never looked up to someone music
wise. I’ve always tried to keep my sound, you know, something a bit different. A lot of me
fans want a break from the usual London accent that runs the Grime fans.’ Maybe it’s this
unique sound which sets Ca$$y apart.
Following from praise from artist A$AP Rocky on established hip-hop radio show ‘The
Breakfast Club’ who bigged up Ca$$y saying, “The boy’s going somewhere, don’t know
where, but he’s going.” he’s been dubbed to explode even more in the states. Despite this,
Ca$$y keeps his feet on the ground. ‘It’s mad getting ratings from a rapper like A$AP
(Rocky), but I’m just gonna carry on making music, making the city proud and see what
happens.
There have been rumours about Ca$$y working on a new EP, and images released of the
Liverpudlian with singer Ed Sheeran have hotted these up. “Hmm, let’s just say that you
should keep a watch out, because something’s happening.” That’s all the 22 year old former
Carpenter could reveal about these rumours.
It’s obvious that Ca$$ie is still loyal to his block and friends and won’t let the fame get to his
head. His unique accent brings a new side to the grime scene and his jump to glory and reps
in America shows the value of individuality.
