To whom it may concern,
I have just noticed that you have an advertisement for a job role of an Assistant Technician
at Priestley College.
I love anything to do with staging, sound, lighting or any other requirements, whether it’s
doing service maintenance, rigging and operating. If you’re looking for anyone with great
enthusiasm and determination, I personally think I am more than capable for the job as my
attendance is spot on and ready for any jobs. I have good knowledge and understanding of
the technician role with all the responsibility and duties. I have completed one of the main
units which are the lighting operations and sound operations, so I now have an even better
clear understanding on the course.
Recently I have volunteered to help out with Priestley Voice where I was required to set up
the staging, set the sound desk up and connect them all together. Once the show had
finished the sound desk, speakers and the staging needed taking down fast so a lesson could
be held in the same room, so I was put in charge to tell all the business students on how to
take down the staging safely.
As well as being able to help out with the auditions, I have just recently been given the
opportunity to help out with Paul Pope’s play he has directed and he has asked me to do the
lighting operations for the show, so I will be attending all technical rehearsals. So this will
give me a better clear understanding of the theatre industry.
My ability to pick up new skills and apply them are in good order for the job as I am willing
to try anything new whether it’s scenic construction, lighting designer or even prop making.
For me to have this job I would not let you down as I will be on time on the required days, I
have my own tools if any repairs need doing I am always there on the job and never to let
any down. Hope to hear from you soon.
Yours sincerely, Matthew Baldwin
