Ways on how Passive and Active voices works:
Things to consider
 The passive voice may be a better choice, however, when
• the doer of the action is unknown, unwanted, or unneeded
  in the sentence
  Examples

• the writer wishes to emphasize the action of the sentence
rather than the doer of the action
  Examples

• the writer wishes to use passive voice for sentence variety.
Create a short story of
    the following pictures.
    Observe the use of nouns
    in your story:
Once upon a time, there was a
castle named Seiryo . It is familiar
because the castle is made of
dazzling diamonds and most of the
people are magic users. They live
peacefully , they do what they want
and do what is right. It is a place
where everyone is equal . Until the
day had come, the evil spirit which is
the most powerful of all human kind
came and started to turn all the
people into stones. No one had the
chance to escape and no one had the
chance to overwhelm the power of
the devil spirits.
Dream
One Saturday night, I was driving
in a dark road where few houses
are likely to be seen. The bad thing
is, the more woods the more eerie
the air when it touches your skin.
Until I reached a haunted house
but what makes me attracted is
because of the moon. It is as bright
as snow. I was stocked there by
just watching the moon.
Meanwhile, a voice started to
whisper my name. I don’t know
where the voice came from but
my feet started to walk , it’s like
someone is controlling my mind.
I’m not aware of myself standing
in front of the house. I went
inside, to my surprise, souls are
calling my name. there is no going
back because the way had started
to disappear.

We cry for someone who’s important to us, we cry because we lose
someone close to us that even our soul and hope is being killed by pain.
The woman in my dream who is wearing a plain white shirt, who
mourns on the coffin of his son, I can’t help myself but to cry. I saw my
friend Novelyn who is also weeping and begins to languish. I went to
comfort her but my effort isn’t good enough to heal the pain.

The man welcomed me to his home; I was more excited when I saw the
keyboard located on the right side of the living area. “What are you
fascinated of?” he asked me. “It’s the keyboard located at the right side
of your living area”. We walk to the living where the keyboard is
located. His fingers touching the keyboard are as light as the feather
while playing. He looks at me and asked, “Do you play the keyboard?
And I said, yes. Then he said, “You can have my keyboard but for one
condition, you are going to take good care of this and play it.” Without
finishing his sentence, I agreed to his condition.

Feelings that needed to let go and memories that needed to forget. Maybe it’s
time to let go of him that’s the phrase that pop up into my mind upon waking
  up.
Two girls having conversations while walking. The first girl said, “I heard that he
is going to be married with my cousin, so what are you going to do?” The
second girl just smiled at her and said, “I can’t go against their relationship, and
besides I can’t control their feelings. I don’t need to be a barrier for the two and
there’s nothing I wish for him but to make him happy. Maybe they’re good
partners in the future”. Before they reached their destination, a man who is
tall, dark hair with a fair skin standing their worried and is looking for
someone, he stops and faces the two girls. The second girl gave him a cheerful
  smile.

November 25, 2012 (Sunday night)
  I hate snake……….!! What a bad nightmare.
Two girls talking with the salesman, asking him to drop the price so that they
could afford to buy it but the salesman can’t do that. I just smile as I watch them
having conversations. Meanwhile, I was nearly to lean on the wall when a green
snake pops up from a box, ready to bite. I can’t move, just my eyes, side
glancing into my right side to see if I could ask for help from the other guy.
However, his situation is the same as mine. He gave me a signal to run over him
but it was just to trick the two snakes, letting them to bite each
other, however, it was a sad failure. The man was bitten by these snakes. In
reality, I recognize this man as one of my customer from the computer
  shop, named Jake.
November 26, 2012 (Monday night)
There are bottles of wine, well arranged in parallel. Luminous lights making the place like
a bar. Three wooden tables in front of the counter, a man polishing the glass, wearing his
inner polo with a black tapper that makes it not to cover all his polo and a black slack
which makes him look like a waiter. He went out from the counter and a little girl with a
long and blonde hair approaches this man and hugged him very tight. The man smiled at
  the little girl.
I was in the scene but I don’t know who they are.

November 27, 2012 (Tuesday night)
I remember some snatches of my dreams. My batch mate and I were in the island. Our
intention is to celebrate our reunion. Foods and drinks are all present even liquors
because most of them like to drink it. In the middle of our celebration, most of the people
started to leave the island due to unexpected typhoon. We are all in panic, but the bad
thing is, some of our batch mate doesn’t want to leave the island, commonly the
drunkards and because of this, we were left by the boats. The problem in me is that, I
  don’t know how to swim.

November 28, 2012 (Wednesday night)
I have a lot of pets, most of them are puppies, however I have specie who’s different
among them and which, not everyone had ever seen it. It has a whale-like tail, dark gray in
color, has webbed feet and long two-lobed. We went to the playground to unwind. While
walking in the hall way, picking up my two little cute puppies, my one and only specie got
lost and I couldn’t find it anymore.
As I woke up, I was recalling if where I did saw that specie and I realize that it was
from the movie “The water horse”.

    Dear Prof. Cruz:

The upcoming Philippine Youth League annual meet (1. Could, should, will) be held this
year at the Manila Peninsula Hotel in Makati City on Monday evening, April 12. I (2.
Should, will, would) like to inform you that when the subject of an outside speaker was
raised, several members suggested your name. The members unanimously agreed to
the proposal. As president, I (3. May, might, must) approve the decision. Since you have
the expertise on the topic and you (4. Can, could, might) speak effectively, we decided
to consider you as a speaker. I am writing to ask whether you (5. Could be, will
be, would be) interested in joining.
•
Our theme this year is “Let’s communicate, (6. Can, shall, should) we?”
a lecture of 30-40 minutes, followed by a 10-minute open forum (7.
Could be, might be, would be) ideal for us. However, just like other
annual affairs, we (8. Might, must, should) experience technical
difficulties during your talk. In case of this, we request if you (9. Can,
could, will) bring with you a technical specialist.

(10. May, shall, should) you have any question on the details of the
annual meet, you (11. Can, could, might) contact us at the numbers
above.

Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Jerry Roque

“ Dear Murray”
I had many boyfriends before; all of them were bad
boy type. They all broke my heart. I really like tough

sweet, thoughtful, financially stable but quite boring.
Jeff really loves me and will do anything to please me.
But at the back of my mind, I’m wondering if he is the
Mr. Right for me. I don’t want to change him but I’m
longing from my previous adventurous and exciting
love life. What should I do?
•
I’m Patrick and I’m studying now at a big University in
our community. I’m good at my major subjects. In
fact, my teachers always tell me that I’m very
responsible and intelligent. The problem with me is my
communication skill. I have hard time using English as my
medium of interacting with other people. Murray, please
 help me.

I work as a secretary in an advertising agency. Lately, I found out that
my colleagues had been feeding my boss with negative things about
me. They say that I’m not doing my work properly, that I’m
incompetent, and close minded. I talked to my boss and she assured
that she still believes in me. For my destructors, I don’t feel at ease
when they are around me. My boss can’t fire them because they are also
good at their job. What should I do?

Snow is composed of frozen water crystals. These crystals are formed
through the condensation of water vapor at below zero degrees Celsius.
When individual ice crystals fall through the atmosphere, they start to combine
and form snowflakes. The shape of the snowflakes, which exhibits a great
variety of forms and structure. Magono and Lee have proposed 80 separate
classses of snowflakes’ shapes. The proposed classification is slowly gaining
   acceptance.
Scientist have realized that the forces that assemble molecules into
natural crystals can be utilized for the production of other important materials.
In, recent years, researchers have been studying how molecules organize
themselves to form crystals. Scientist are making themselves aware that the
material properties of a crystal depend on the organization of the molecules in

  • 46. One Week Daily Journal November 22, 2012 (Thursday Night) We cry for someone who’s important to us, we cry because we lose someone close to us that even our soul and hope is being killed by pain. The woman in my dream who is wearing a plain white shirt, who mourns on the coffin of his son, I can’t help myself but to cry. I saw my friend Novelyn who is also weeping and begins to languish. I went to comfort her but my effort isn’t good enough to heal the pain. November 23, 2012 (Friday night) The man welcomed me to his home; I was more excited when I saw the keyboard located on the right side of the living area. “What are you fascinated of?” he asked me. “It’s the keyboard located at the right side of your living area”. We walk to the living where the keyboard is located. His fingers touching the keyboard are as light as the feather while playing. He looks at me and asked, “Do you play the keyboard? And I said, yes. Then he said, “You can have my keyboard but for one condition, you are going to take good care of this and play it.” Without finishing his sentence, I agreed to his condition.
  • 47. November 24, 2012 (Saturday night) Feelings that needed to let go and memories that needed to forget. Maybe it’s time to let go of him that’s the phrase that pop up into my mind upon waking up. Two girls having conversations while walking. The first girl said, “I heard that he is going to be married with my cousin, so what are you going to do?” The second girl just smiled at her and said, “I can’t go against their relationship, and besides I can’t control their feelings. I don’t need to be a barrier for the two and there’s nothing I wish for him but to make him happy. Maybe they’re good partners in the future”. Before they reached their destination, a man who is tall, dark hair with a fair skin standing their worried and is looking for someone, he stops and faces the two girls. The second girl gave him a cheerful smile. November 25, 2012 (Sunday night) I hate snake……….!! What a bad nightmare. Two girls talking with the salesman, asking him to drop the price so that they could afford to buy it but the salesman can’t do that. I just smile as I watch them having conversations. Meanwhile, I was nearly to lean on the wall when a green snake pops up from a box, ready to bite. I can’t move, just my eyes, side glancing into my right side to see if I could ask for help from the other guy. However, his situation is the same as mine. He gave me a signal to run over him but it was just to trick the two snakes, letting them to bite each other, however, it was a sad failure. The man was bitten by these snakes. In reality, I recognize this man as one of my customer from the computer shop, named Jake.
  • 48. November 26, 2012 (Monday night) There are bottles of wine, well arranged in parallel. Luminous lights making the place like a bar. Three wooden tables in front of the counter, a man polishing the glass, wearing his inner polo with a black tapper that makes it not to cover all his polo and a black slack which makes him look like a waiter. He went out from the counter and a little girl with a long and blonde hair approaches this man and hugged him very tight. The man smiled at the little girl. I was in the scene but I don’t know who they are. November 27, 2012 (Tuesday night) I remember some snatches of my dreams. My batch mate and I were in the island. Our intention is to celebrate our reunion. Foods and drinks are all present even liquors because most of them like to drink it. In the middle of our celebration, most of the people started to leave the island due to unexpected typhoon. We are all in panic, but the bad thing is, some of our batch mate doesn’t want to leave the island, commonly the drunkards and because of this, we were left by the boats. The problem in me is that, I don’t know how to swim. November 28, 2012 (Wednesday night) I have a lot of pets, most of them are puppies, however I have specie who’s different among them and which, not everyone had ever seen it. It has a whale-like tail, dark gray in color, has webbed feet and long two-lobed. We went to the playground to unwind. While walking in the hall way, picking up my two little cute puppies, my one and only specie got lost and I couldn’t find it anymore. As I woke up, I was recalling if where I did saw that specie and I realize that it was from the movie “The water horse”.

  • 56. I’m Patrick and I’m studying now at a big University in our community. I’m good at my major subjects. In fact, my teachers always tell me that I’m very responsible and intelligent. The problem with me is my communication skill. I have hard time using English as my medium of interacting with other people. Murray, please help me. I work as a secretary in an advertising agency. Lately, I found out that my colleagues had been feeding my boss with negative things about me. They say that I’m not doing my work properly, that I’m incompetent, and close minded. I talked to my boss and she assured that she still believes in me. For my destructors, I don’t feel at ease when they are around me. My boss can’t fire them because they are also good at their job.
