Basically, the program is a little booklet of sorts, usually an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of paper, either landscape and folded in half to make three or four pages to hold specific information, or tri-fold like a brochure.
Many template kits can be easily coordinated with any wedding invitation designs you’re looking at too.

Programs Easier

Not every couple decides to use programs, but if you’re going to, there are a f ew wedding program templates
you can use that will make designing it a lot easier.
Basically, the program is a little booklet of sorts, usually an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of paper, either landscape and
f olded in half to make three or f our pages to hold specif ic inf ormation, or tri-f old like a brochure.
Many template kits can be easily coordinated with any wedding invitation designs you’re looking at too.
What information do wedding program templates include?
Some couples aren’t sure what they’re supposed to put on their programs. Basically your programs can include
a list of the bridal party names, the order of the ceremony, and any special songs or memorials f or deceased
loved ones like a parent or grandparent.
Some couples make rather lengthy programs and include a
very brief biography of each attendant in the bridal party and
how they met, and they even print a special verse or a part of
their wedding vows inside.
What styles can programs be done in?
There are a f ew dif f erent styles of programs so there are a
variety of wedding program templates you can use to design
yours.
Bi-fold style. These would be one sheet of paper f olded in
half . This gives you f our small ‘pages’ to put the inf ormation
on. If you’re having a large bridal party, you can add a second
sheet of paper and give yourself eight pages to put
inf ormation on.
Or you can attach a single half -sheet of paper inside the
f olded program, giving you an extra two pages to work with.
Wedding program scrolls.
This style is one long sheet that your roll up like a tube or scroll and
tie a ribbon or decorative string around it.
You can use 8″ x 11″ sheets of paper or 8.5″ x 14″ legal size
depending on how much inf ormation you’re going to put into your
programs.
If you’re having a small, casual ceremony with only two or f our
attendants in the bridal party, no special songs or readings and no
memorials to include, you could design it using one of many simple
one-page wedding program templates and also give the f inishing
2. touches of a scroll.
Example of inf ormation on wedding program templates:
On one page or section:
The date, time, and place of the ceremony
The order or schedule of the ceremony and events
Time and location of the reception
Special thank you to your guests f or attending
On a second page or section:
Names of the bride and groom
The minister or other of f iciate
The names of those in your bridal party – optionally you may also say how they’re related to you, such
as the “Joe, brother of the bride”
Optional things you can include depending on your type of ceremony:
I’ve never seen wedding programs where the bride’s escort mentioned, possibly because it’s automatically
assumed that it’s the bride’s f ather.
But not every bride is walked down the aisle by their f ather. I’ve been to a f ew weddings where the bride’s
mother walked her down the aisle. My cousin asked her older brother to escort here.
My uncle walked his granddaughter down the aisle, and f or our vow renewal ceremony, my eldest grandson
escorted me.
Many times f or second marriages, the bride will be escorted by one or more of her children. So you can include
in the list of attendants the person who’s escorting the bride.
Start early and experiment with different wedding program templates
Especially so if you’re having a rather large and very traditional wedding, you can use try a f ew dif f erent
layouts of multiple-page wedding program templates and include things like:
Titles of special music that is played or sung
Names of soloists or instrumentation-f or example, we had a bagpiper at our ceremony so I included his
name and the songs he played
A thank you to wedding and reception coordinators f or their parts in the event
A special memorial verse honoring a deceased relative who is with you in spirit
There really are no hard and f ast rules f or the layout of any wedding programs or even f or specif ic wedding
program wording. The main role a program plays is just to let the guests know who’s who and a tentative,
loose schedule of what’s happening, and where.
Match the Program to the Type of Ceremony
You don’t necessarily have to coordinate the color scheme of your
program to that of your wedding theme, but there are many wedding
program templates that are coordinated and you can order them as
kits.
And with a little know-how of PhotoShop or a desktop publishing
3. program, you can get your wedding invitations f rom one vendor and
design your own wedding program templates to match.
And with so many brides or couples going with DIY wedding
invitations, coordinating the look and f eel of all of the printed
materials f or the ceremony and reception is pretty easy.
In f act, you can actually design a f ew of your own wedding program
templates and then you’ll know which one works best f or the amount
of inf ormation you need or want to include.
