3. What is the definition for Chemical
Reaction?
A chemical reaction is the change of a substance into a new one that has a
different chemical identity.
4. What motivated us to do this project?
I thought about why fireworks blow then I
checked it by using the best search engine
ever made which was Google and it said that
fireworks only blow because they were made
using chemical reactions.
5. What materials do I need?
-graduate cylinder
-vinegar
-ZipLoc bag
-baking soda
-plastic gloves
6. Where do chemical reactions occur?
You may think that chemical reactions only
happen in science labs, but they are actually
happening all the time in the everyday world.
Every time you eat, your body uses chemical
reactions to break down your food into energy.
Other examples include metal rusting, wood
burning, batteries producing electricity, and
photosynthesis in plants.
7. Reaction Rate
Not all chemical reactions occur at the same
rate. Some happen very quickly like
explosions, while others can take a long time,
like metal rusting. The speed that the
reactants turn into products is called the
reaction rate.
8. A next idea project
A next idea project would be density which I
might with a 4th grader because they might as
a science unit.
10. Fun Fact
When the iron and magnesium in a firework
burn, they react with oxygen and produce ash
and smoke. They also release spectacular
heat, light, and noise. Chemical changes
produce new materials. They also usually give
out or take in energy such as heat or light
because chemical bonds have been broken and
made.
11. For saftey hazards
We need gloves so
that you don’t get
anything on your
hands.
Do it in a place you
won’t get in
trouble.It won’t be
my fault if you get in
trouble.
12. So this is a good project
I know this is a good project so I chose this so I
want to do more challenging projects.I want
my project to try to get to the Science Expo!
