Cheap solar power in the UAE is putting pressure on manufacturers as project bids reach record low prices. The lowest bid for a 350MW solar project in Abu Dhabi was 2.42 US cents per kWh by Marubeni and Jinko Solar. While low prices benefit developers, they squeeze margins for manufacturers and may force consolidation in the industry. The region aims to develop solar manufacturing but a supply glut may challenge those ambitions. Libya's oil production is rising as some fields and ports resume operations after conflicts, with output reaching 450,000 bpd, over 70% higher than last month.
