PCI/CI-X carrier; two mezannine sites; back to back The sites are called XMC sites – you may be familiar with the PMC standard, well XMC is an expansion (PCI vs high-speed fabric), and is another standard (published by the VITA organization) that introduces some extra connectors that run a high-speed fabric off of the mezzanine modules. ePMC, which stands for enhanced PMC, is a Spectrum standard and is a precursor to XMC, but functionally is the same in terms of a high-speed fabric augmentation of PCI On-board high-speed XMC connections; also off-board connections for expanadabiltiy. Smarts are all in the modules – carrier is simple This allows rapid migration - pop the modules onto other form factors Mix and match and scalability.
