“Orphan”
We liked the girls facial expression as
it showed her as creepy and scary
without talking.
Her straight face was inspirational so we
decided to have our character Kate (the villain)
have the same facial expression.
“The Grady twins”
Their outfits show them as innocent
whereas their facial expressions
show them as scary and mysterious.
Their dresses portray them as vulnerable and
innocent whereas their facial expressions are
shown as mysterious and peculiar.
It inspired us to make Kate be dressed
innocent but her face will go against this.
“Wild Child”
We liked her outfit and attitude as it
was rebellious and wild.
We decided to make our main character
(Katherine) look like a rebellious wild child as
this broke the stereotype that psychological
films are about sophisticated people.
We made Katherine look rebellious though
costume, makeup and hair.

Her hair is back combed with different colored extensions.
For the makeup we will use black eye liner on Katia’s eyes with bright red lipstick
to emphasise her facial expressions.

Character Inspiration Character and film What you like about them How will you apply it in your opening sequence “Orphan” We liked the girls facial expression as it showed her as creepy and scary without talking. Her straight face was inspirational so we decided to have our character Kate (the villain) have the same facial expression. “The Grady twins” Their outfits show them as innocent whereas their facial expressions show them as scary and mysterious. Their dresses portray them as vulnerable and innocent whereas their facial expressions are shown as mysterious and peculiar. It inspired us to make Kate be dressed innocent but her face will go against this. “Wild Child” We liked her outfit and attitude as it was rebellious and wild. We decided to make our main character (Katherine) look like a rebellious wild child as this broke the stereotype that psychological films are about sophisticated people. We made Katherine look rebellious though costume, makeup and hair.
  • 3. Character: “Kate” Role in opening sequence Kate Costume & Props Tea stained coffee t-shirt, covered in baby powder, black eye shadow around her eyes, jeans and black shoes. Actor Judy Ibelgauptiene Inspired by Orphan How is this character represented? She is represented as innocent, vulnerable, mysterious and peculiar due to the idea of her facial expressions being quite mysterious.
  • 4. Character: “Katherine” Role in opening sequence Catherine Costume & Props Black shiny pants, black trainers, band t-shirt. Colourful hair extensions. Strapless bra, red lipstick, backpack, sleeve tattoo, blue underwear. Her hair is back combed with different colored extensions. For the makeup we will use black eye liner on Katia’s eyes with bright red lipstick to emphasise her facial expressions. Actor Katia Martins Inspired by Black Swan How is this character represented? She is represented as dark, rebellious and mysterious.

She also has the features for a villain. Costume/Props needed for role: Tea stained coffee t-shirt, covered in baby powder, black eye shadow around her eyes, jeans and black shoes.
