4. God’s Amazing Grace!
Tit 2:11-14 For the grace of God that
brings salvation has appeared to all men,
teaching us that, denying ungodliness and
worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly in the present age,
looking for the blessed hope and glorious
appearing of our great God and Savior
Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that
He might redeem us from every lawless
deed and purify for Himself His own special
people, zealous for good works.
5. How many of you believe in the
grace of God?
▪ Ok then, how would you define what
grace is?
▸Grace is often defined as “God’s
unmerited favor” meaning we don't earn it
or deserve it and indeed this is the case!
▸Grace = favor or kindness shown
without regard to the worth ot merit of the
one who receives it and in spite of what
that person deserves! (Nelson Bible
Dictionary)
6. Grace is from the word charis!
Found 156 times in the NT, 130 of them “grace!”
▪ Charis = benefit, favour, gift, grace, joy,
thanks, divine influence upon the heart.
(Strong’s)
▪ It is from this word we get out English
words “charisma and charismatic!”
7. An imperative part of our salvation!
▪ There are two key elements involved in the
salvation of man, both on God’s part and on
man’s part!
▸God’s part Mercy + Grace = Salvation!
▸Man’s part Faith + Obedience = Salvation!
▪ Eph 2:4. 8 But God, who is rich in mercy,
because of His great love with which He
loved us, For by grace you have been
saved through faith, and that not of
yourselves; it is the gift of God.
8. I. Grace Saves Us!
It’s a matter of eternity! Tit 2:11 “For the
grace of God that brings salvation has
appeared to all men.”
▪ It is only by/through the grace of God that
men are saved! A-men!!!
▸We deserve death (Rom. 3:23 & 6:23) but
God offers us grace!
▪ This is why the gospel truly is “good news!”
▪ Every person we meet, is equally in need
of God’s amazing grace!
9. II. Grace Schools Us!
It’s a matter of enrichment! Tit 2:12
“teaching us that, denying ungodliness and
worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly in the present age.”
▪ There is more to grace than just our
salvation!
▸2 Cor 6:1 We then, as workers together with
Him also plead with you not to receive the
grace of God in vain.
▪ God’s grace is to bring about “life change!”
10. One being set free from sin is not
the end but the beginning!
(Mt. 28:18-20; Rom. 6:3-4)
▪ Everyone of us is to be learning daily from
Jesus, we are all still “a work in progress!”
▪ Grace comes freely, but with the blessing
also comes responsibility!
▪ Paul points out two sides to this!
▸Negative side = ungodliness & worldly lust!
▸Positive side = soberly, righteously & godly!
▪ When we accept God’s grace, it must
11. III. Grace Separates Us!
It’s a matter of empowerment! Tit 2:13-14
“looking for the blessed hope and glorious
appearing of our great God and Savior
Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that
He might redeem us from every lawless
deed and purify for Himself His own special
people, zealous for good works.”
▪ The difference between wisdom &
knowledge is one knows & one does!
▸We are schooled, given the knowledge we
need so we can then live accordingly!
12. We are now saints!
We are to be set apart for God, to
live as holy!
▪ We have been called to a life of
sanctification! Learning to live life for
Jesus!
▸1 Pet. 2:9-12
▪ Now to be a friend of God and not of the
world!
▸Js. 4:4
▪ We now live to bring God glory!
13. Conclusion:
▪ Have you come to know the grace of God
in your life? Have you come to be forgiven
and set free?
▪ Are we learning to live in God’s amazing
grace?
▸That saves us, schools us, & separates us!
▪ Today is the day to live in God’s grace!
