  • kikolani Kristi Hines , Freelance Writer / Web Designer at Everywhere This was the presentation I was looking forward to the most at SMAZ, and it didn’t disappoint! I included your slides in my review of SMAZ as well.

I changed my approach in talking about the event from just being factual to adding a bit of personal info to the story.

Also, in response to ’Google’ below, images (whether they are relevant or not) helps break up the text and makes it more visually appealing to readers. And the blog commenting referred to in this presentation isn’t just the ’great post’ comments, but rather valuable comments that add value to the blog post itself. Commenting on other blogs is essential in building blogging community.

  • harveyclay Harvey Clay , Recruiting Manager at Eximer Technology Staffing Great advice, Jason. I will connect with you to learn more about 'Picking good search terms and incorporating them into URLs, Headings, and sub-headings'. This is new territory for me. 2 years ago Reply

  • lisagerber Big Leap Creative at Big Leap Creative Jay - thanks for the tremendously helpful presentation. I just launched my blog a few weeks ago, and this was timely.
I agree with you that real-life stories can be interesting. and that's the kicker: if they are interesting. bloggers need to be able to make that determination and if they are incorrect, their readership will reflect that obviously.
    Thanks again!

  • sitemanager Combiteam at Combiteam I dont see why I should post about my personal life. It is totally irrelevant in my opinion - unless I should brand myself, which I do not want. 2 years ago Reply

  • bushman Proword (Professional Word) at Proword (Professional Word) Well I like it and am gonna blog it soon. But I notice that people sometimes get out thwe wrong ddie of the bed, On the same day I trashed someihing else and it has led to all sorts of nasty stuff. I was right of course, but pushy. Not recommended, and anyway it makes both sides uncomfiortable and we don't want that do we. Do we? What I do haste is the size of the type here. I am going blind here and that ain't good! Have a better one!

My blog about Econsultancy's post called 'How Not to be The Socail Media Guru - reviisted' is a gentler way to disagree. I hope you uh agree. http://www.professionaowrod.com/blog

But be quick, this is my general address and a new post is due Thursday! Cheers

  • joe99999 joe99999 at joe99999 Slide 12: 'Include images with every post' - Hurrah for encouraging more of the 'death by powerpoint' way of presenting in to blogs - 'who cares if it isn't directly relevant - it is something similar in a vague way, so no-one everyone will laugh at its pointless (and often dire) attempt at humour'.

Slide 16: 'Your real life is interesting' - no it isn't. The thing that is most boring on blogs is someone waffling on about the mundane minutia of their life. I've considered following a couple of Tech blogs or Twitter feeds but skipped them because of the 'content to noise' ratio.

Slide 21: 'Comment on other blogs' - so that's the tip that's making people post random little 'great post, I've just said something similar' comments just to get a link back to their site.

(Posted from a BugMeNot account because requiring registration for comments is annoying - spam filtering and 'comment without registration' is probably a better suggestion)
