- Hello everybody, First of all, I want to thank the European Campus Card Association and the University of Cantabria, for the conferences and for inviting us to present our projects. Excuse me for my English, because, I am not used to speak in English and I am sure that I will make many mistakes.
- I work for the University of Murcia, that it's a medium / large university in Spain, specifically in the information technology area, in which we develop and support all technology system from the university.
- Among my functions, I manage the projects of the international university smart card research Centre, established between University of Murcia and Banco Santander in December two thousand and twelve. We specialize in: - E-Government and e-signature, - Smart phone and Mobility - And manage the services catalog to the University Smart card. We started only seventeen months ago, but we are involved in many different projects.
- Among these projects, I’m going to present you the App TUI.
- AppTUI is a mobile application for all university community, to offer services from smart phones, where the normal use of these services is with the university smart card. We started last year the development, with these main features: The app is free for universities. Each university is able to choose which services will be deployed in its university. Nowadays, the functionality and services have been developed by the University of Murcia, but we are including other services developed by other university smart card research centers of Santander bank (University of Cantabria, Mexico, Brazil, etc.). . Any university can incorporate a module for internal use or to transfer it to other universities. In addition, each university sets the look and feel of the app for their students (logo, card layout, colors, etc). The aim is to adapt the app to the corporate image of the university.
- The architecture of App TUI is composed of: The mobile app in booth versions Android and iPhone The Management Platform for universities, aimed to set the look and feel, web services to connect the app with the back office of the university, and a test environment to probe the services. The USC to link with the mobile and the services A portal web for companies that offers discounts or promotions to the students. With this system, the companies can create and manage their own discounts and the university only has to validate the promotions and the discount is automatically published in the app. Other app targeted to the companies, to track promotions and to check the validity of smart cards. The last component is not published yet. We are working with a "Documenta Universitaria" to add a portal web to publish the promotions. In this way a student can check the promotions from internet and from mobile. This component will finish in September.
- The app has many services. One of this is to check in real time, university parking availability. We have developed, a push notification with sound, and the phone says the number of free parking lot of my favorite parking, when the mobile is near the parking. Therefore I don’t have to look at the phone while I’m driving
- Other service in the app is checking the balance and last movements of the university virtual purse. It is possible to integrate the app with any university wallet.
- Sports I can check my sports reservations. All data, in all services, are sent directly from the back office of the university to the app. The integration method is web services. Points of interest To check the university points of interest. Faculty secretaries, student attention offices, sport courts, etcetera.
- Other service is checking promotions and discounts that companies, outside the university, have registered in the platform and the university has validated.
- Personal Data To check the personal data of the user USC Information To check the information of the user smart card. If the user has a smart card pending to pick up, he can check all information, delivery date, collection point, etcetera.
- In these moments, we are developing the services related to library. Search books in the catalog. Reserve a book. Check the active loans. Notifications when a loan is going to expire or when a book, that I am interesting, has been returned. We work with principal provider of library software in Spain, but the app can connect to any library software.
- Currently, the app is running in two universities in Spain: The University of Murcia and the University of Granada. Several international universities are developing the web services to connect the back office with the app. Federico Santa Maria in Chile and Federal Fluminense in Brazil Besides, several of these universities will develop new services for AppTUI and will transfer it to other universities for free.
- One service very interesting that we have developed is the access control with the smart phone. For this purpose, we use a specific microSD of Gemalto that stored the secure element and incorporates NFC. The microSD simulates a Mifare chip of four kilobytes and has four megabytes for storage.

- As you have seen in the video, with the mobile we can: Open the doors of the building Open the doors of the classrooms Open the parking barriers Or open the turnstiles access the gym.
- Pick up a bicycle at the automatic systems that we have in the university And authentication in computers
- An other development, we are making, is a real mobile payment, in which the credit or debit cards, of Mastercard or Visa, are stored in microSD. With this wallet we have two great benefits: It is independent of the mobile operator And it is not necessary NFC in the mobile, because the microSD already have it. The objective is that students will have a system of mobile payment to use booth inside and outside the university. Currently the system is already operative with Mastercad and payments in which it is not necessary to use PIN. We are working to finish the development in July with payments with PIN and VISA cards.

- To end the presentation I will outline two conclusions: University smart card and mobile can not be independent, they must go together, because students request it and all of us have to work in this line. So the App TUI is one path in, at this direction, easy to implement, in which the universities can collaborate. It is necessary to share and collaborate among universities in order to optimize the resources. From this university of Murcia we are open to collaborate and we really like working with other universities.
