1. WHAT KIND OF MEDIA
INSTITUTIONS MIGHT
DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCTS AND WHY?
By Jake Cook
2. As our film would be a British low budget film it would be
most likely be distributed by a independent film studio. The
british film institute (BFI), BBC Films and film4 Would be
the most likely to distribute/Produce our film because these
studios are also relatively small and are British based. It
would be very unlikely to be distributed by one of the big 6
due to us being too high risk because we are not an
established company.
3. As a low budget film we would most likely to use a
simultaneous release; Releasing our film on many different
platforms at once (DVD, Cinema, Online..) By doing this
we would hope to gain attention to the film via word of
mouth, This would make people more interested and as it
is available on most platforms people would be more likely
to buy it.
4. We would also use a platformed release
along with the simultaneous release. A
platformed release is only showing a film in
a few theatres (Art house or independent
cinema) increasing the amount of cinemas
showing the film as the marketing
campaign gains momentum.
5. In reality we are going to distribute our film
with the use of social media. For example,
our film has been released on youtube and
we have used tumblr & twitter to gain
interest and feedback from the film.
