Air Structure Basics
What is an Air Structure?
An air supported structure is a building formed
from one or more layers of continuous flexible
membrane anchored to the ground or to a
wall, inflated and supported by pressurized air.
Air blowers continuously pump air into the
structure, creating the necessary air pressure
that allows the fabric envelope to stay inflated.
Air structures offer great flexibility, and can be
used as seasonal, permanent or temporary
structures.
A Safe & Structurally-Sound Alternative
to Conventional Construction
Arizon’s buildings are designed to meet
standard building codes, and will maintain
their structural integrity even during inclement
weather. Our buildings are designed by our in-
house engineering team to meet our clients’
requested specifications and ensure that all
safety measurements are taken.

Exterior Fabric
Primary Components | Thermaliner & Back Drop
Exclusive High Reflectivity Liner
Providing an insulating air-gap between fabric layer, our
liner material is both highly translucent and reflective,
reducing lighting & heating costs.
Color Back Drop
For many sports & recreation centers, a dark backdrop is
desirable. The liner is available in many different colors, and
is used for the bottom 14 ft. of liner.
.
Primary Components | Insulation
Double Wall Construction
Often seen as the best low-cost option, having the lowest first dollar cost, double wall
construction includes one dead air space between two architectural fabric layers. The
R-value for our double wall construction is calculated at R-3.56.
Triple Wall Construction (with or without Mylar)
Triple wall adds an extra layer of dead air space to the double-wall design to increase
the energy efficiency by 40% and R-value to R-5.54. Triple wall with Mylar even further
increases the insulation value for domes that need to be heated/cooled in extreme
exterior climates, as the inclusion of Mylar reflects solar heat to minimize solar heat
gain. While triple wall and triple wall with Mylar initially require a higher initial
investment as compared to double wall insulation, the level of insulation can
substantially offset operating costs in the long run.
Double Bubble Mylar
An alternative method of insulation, double bubble Mylar is an insulation type that
must be installed in the field.
In our effort to provide comfortable,
energy-efficient facilities, Arizon offers
several insulation options to suit our
clients’ needs.
Primary Components | Cable Systems
A diamond crossing pattern is a hybrid
design offering both radial and lateral
support for air structures. This system
can increase a building’s snow/wind
load considerably over radial cable
systems alone.
Providing the highest level of fabric
stress relief and support, the full bias
cable grid isolates small sections of the
building so that the load is evenly
shared- even during the worst
wind/snow conditions.
Tensioned cables in one direction across
the barrel of the building, offering some
stress relief from the fabric.

Double Bubble Mylar An alternative method of insulation, double bubble Mylar is an insulation type that must be installed in the field. In our effort to provide comfortable, energy-efficient facilities, Arizon offers several insulation options to suit our clients’ needs.
  • 10. Primary Components | Cable Systems A diamond crossing pattern is a hybrid design offering both radial and lateral support for air structures. This system can increase a building’s snow/wind load considerably over radial cable systems alone. Providing the highest level of fabric stress relief and support, the full bias cable grid isolates small sections of the building so that the load is evenly shared- even during the worst wind/snow conditions. Tensioned cables in one direction across the barrel of the building, offering some stress relief from the fabric.
