The document provides instructions for creating a 2-minute video displaying filming and editing skills. It lists technical codes and techniques to include, such as the 180 degree rule, shot reverse shot, and parallel editing. It then provides a script for a scene between two teenage girls meeting in the library to study for their GCSE exams. The script includes character descriptions and basic blocking and technical notes for how to film the scene using the instructed techniques.
Create 2-Minute Video Displaying Filmmaking Skills
1. We must create a short video (around 2 minutes) containing the skills and technical
codes that we have learnt. The video should aim to display both our filming and editing
skills.
2. • 180 degree rule
• Match on action
• Shot reverse shot
• Conversation
• Walking into a room and sitting down
• Parallel editing
• Graphic match
• Consideration of framing – range of shot types
• Range of angles
• Consideration of lighting
• Tracking/panning – movement
• Consideration of mise en scene – costumes, gestures,
expressions, setting
• Enigma codes and action codes
3. Two teenage girls aged 16 meet up in the library and
study for their GCSE exams.
Characters: Sarayna and Florence.
-Age:15-16
-Personality: Stressed
-Occupation: Students
Costumes: casual clothing e.g. jeans, a top and
trainers.
Setting: school library.
4. Fades In from black screen to sound of a text message and opens on
Sarayna’s phone screen of a text message from Florence saying “where
are you, come to the library”.
Sarayna walks down the corridor towards the library, we will use
tracking/panning (longshot).
Sarayna then walks through the door using shot reverse shot (extreme
mid shot)
Flo is sat down at a table in the library already revising/studying –low
angle to high angle shot. (enigma code for the audience, leaves them
wondering what she is doing/revising for.
The conversation between them starts which is when the 180 degree rule
is placed. (midshot)
Consideration of lighting will be taken, majority of it will be constructed
with natural lighting, however there ,may be scenes during the
conversation where high key lighting may need to be used.
5. Sarayna (girl 1)
Florence (girl 2)
Girl 1:Hi
Girl 2:Hello, you alright?
Girl 2: How’s your studying going?
Girl 1: Ahh, its so stressful, so hard.
Girl 2:Yeah
Girl 1:What are you studying today?
Girl 2: Sociology
Girl 1:Yeah, so hard
Girl 2:Have you got a prom dress?
Girl 1:I need to get it, have you got yours?
Girl 2:Well I’ve got just the shoes and the bag, still need to get my dress
though. I’m gonna order it but we ain’t got that long yet.
Girl 1:We just need to get it before prom comes.
