  • 1. By Karl Marklund
  • 2. Introduction
    • In this brief presentation I will try to sum up my game analysis of Final Fantasy I – VII. In the analysis you can read about the games and what I think they have given to role playing world.
    • This presentation consists of:
    • About Final Fantasy
    • About Final Fantasy VII (my game of choice)
    • The History of Final Fantasy
    • Conclusions
  • 3. Final Fantasy
    • Final Fantasy is a role playing games series
    • created back in the 1980 in Japan by Square.
    • The game series have become one of the most
    • known and loved games in the RPG market
    • with millions of copies sold all over the world.
    •   A Final Fantasy game always contain a massive
    • world for you to explore, a deep storyline or
    • focus on character development and loveable
    • characters.
  • 4. Final Fantasy VII
    • Final Fantasy VII is one of the most known
    • and loved games in the Final Fantasy
    • series.
    • It takes you into the world of a member of
    • the resistance who is fighting the,
    • according to them, evil corporation
    • Shinra who is depleting the worlds
    • recourses.
    • The story is much like any other fantasy adventure
    • game, with the good guys fighting the great evil.
    • Like the previous games it has a lot of twists and turns in the plot, giving you a greater game experience, with friends turning on you and loved ones dying.
  • 5. Final Fantasy VII
    • The gameplay
    • The gameplay of Final Fantasy VII is pretty similar
    • to its earlier titles, with the structure of a
    • massive world and lots of caves/smaller maps.
    • Final Fantasy VII differs in the way that the game
    • now was created in 3D, with your
    • 3D-charactersmoving around in pre-rendered
    • backgrounds.
    • The battles were a lot more intense since the
    • camera moved around when doing a attack, giving you a more stressful situation since it felt more real.
  • 6. History of Final Fantasy
    • The first Final Fantasy games were mostly released
    • in Japan. Only half of the games I-VI were
    • released in Europe and North America
    • (not taking the re-releases into account).
    • Final Fantasy I actually saved Square from going
    • bankrupt back in the 1980’s. The game did
    • not only save the company, it made way for
    • one of Squares main titles.
    • They were based on the NES platform and later the SNES up until VII, which was released of the PS One.
    • The depth of the story and the character involvement was something hardly seen in that period of time in similar RPGs.
  • 7. History of Final Fantasy
    • Having looked into the early titles of Final Fantasy,
    • you can see an improvement from one
    • installment to the other, but still keeping
    • the core-gameplay intact.
    •
    • The games have been said to be
    • “ interactive movies” more than regular RPGs,
    • since the time you spend getting involved
    • with the story is extensive. This is probably
    • one of the reasons why the game is so popular.
    • Having played mostly Final Fantasy VII, I found some time to play the remake of Final Fantasy IV for the Nintendo DS. The game feels as modern as any game released today, even though it was created in 1991. This is also one of the games I found most interesting during my research.
  • 8. Conclutions
    • Final Fantasy is not only a great game because of the fantastic
    • story with the characters feeling alive; it is one of those
    • games that you just can keep on playing. I myself have a
    • playtime of about 75h, and I still haven’t met the last boss.
    •
    • Given the response of the Final Fantasy XIII that was released
    • earlier this spring, the next installment will probably be as
    • good and maybe even better than the last ones.
    • If you haven’t tried one of the games I would recommend
    • you to do it. There are releases for almost all the
    • platforms out there, so find your closest games shop and
    • get consumed by the power of Final Fantasy!
  • 9. Screenshots of Final Fantasy
  • 10. Screenshots of Final Fantasy VII
