Key frame 1: In this shot it shows a Asian man standing and a part of a black man sitting on chair, this camera angle of a mid-shot show that the white man is of a higher status and class compared to the man sitting down, and he’s more visible in the shot. The Asian man is central showing more in importance than the black man who is placed in the lower right corner. This shows more importance than the other man. This is a stereotypical view of both ethical backgrounds because Asian man are often known to have power and are sobhiscated. The suite is modern and of a clean cut to show wealth and could hide away his lifestyle in his own country. The man sitting down when off camera you could stereotypically say that he’s not in modern clothing and has been placed there for maybe doing something wrong towards the other character. The difference in clothing can also show the stereotypical development in their native countries. The lighting from the window is highlighting the Asian mans face which make him yet again more important.
Key frame 2: A bold hair cut shows that the character is not fussed with what he wears and how people judge him, but gives an stereotype of the binary opposite.Half of the lighting on the man face is darker than the other, this stereotypes that the director has no preference on the ethictincally character is placed for an important meaning in the scene or not. His eyes are looking upwards towards an off screen character which shows that the importance of him is not vulnerable and worthy in this shot. The clothes that the character is wearing is normal and boring signifying the same outlook on the character.
Key frame 3:The women hair is clean cut as has a modern fashion, this shows that she works in a high business and is important for what she replicates. Looking at the emotion in her eyes she is worried about something, also the lighting could sell this off this as well. The face is more lit up as she is placed near the window so this shows the director wants her to important as she has a high role meaning in this scene / programme. Yet again the clothes replicates the role of her job on how formally she is dressed. And blue is a bright colour so it shows her more and brings out calmness in the contrast of the colour.
The person who is the terrorists has a very blurred out and only his figure is showing the lighting is dimmed so that it shows the affect of him being anonymous and shows of more of his power. This is the intimidation and the reason the people cannot not escape, this is a typical stereotype of a terrorist, the character is anonymous from everyone and is a key element to show how important the hostages are to them. Gun is used as a key element of power and shot gun is a very powerful weapon so if the hostages try and escape they will have a very small chance. Yet again a typical powerful gun which works. Also its silver so viewers can see it and it stand out from his costume.
One finger holding the photos mindless power and points at the obvious, this shows anger in the person about this person. The photo is an key example of evidence that linked to the hostages and that the person in frame 2 has a upper advantage of back up and a reason to keep them here. The table is a mild brown this shows a dim looking surface which could blend in with the rooms atmosphere and also the photo is more lighter so it’s easier to see.
The camera is used as a power symbol and a main
