1. VOLUME OF LIQUID Do you know liquid? Can you imagine that? Do you know that the liquid can be measured? Hello ….. My name is Cikgu Ida. Today we will learn Mathematics Year 3 about
2. Can you name it ? We can find many types of liquids around us. Milk Water Cooking oil Ketchup Chocolate
3. Let us measure and compare volume of liquids in three containers below. Can you state the volume of red water for each containers? Empty Half Full
4. We can measure the liquid in millilitre ( ml ), but how? Follow the step below. Pour the yellow liquid from the beaker into a measuring cylinder . Read the volume of yellow liquid. The volume of the yellow liquid is 400 millilitres ( 400 ml ) . Write millilitre as ml .
5. Repeat the step before to measure another liquid in liter ( l ) Pour the green liquid from the beaker into a measuring jug. Read the volume of green liquid. The volume of the green liquid is 1 litre ( 1 l ) Write litre as l
6. Let us compare the volumes of water in the two containers. Pour the orange juice from the glass into a measuring jug . Pour the chocolate milk from the bottle into a measuring jug .
7. Read the volumes of liquids. The volume of the orange juice is 250 ml . The volume of the chocolate milk is 500 ml . The volume of the orange juice is 250 ml less than the volume of chocolate milk. 250 500 500 250
8. For the conclusion, We can measure and compare the volume of liquid using non-standard units and standard units. For non-standard units we can compare volume of liquids using beaker, glass, cup, bottle and others. For standard units we can measure and compare volume of liquids using measuring cylinder, measuring jug or measuring beaker. We use millilitre ( ml ) or litre ( l ).
