As the world economies move toward an increased focus on energy conservation, the monitoring, measuring, and forecasting of energy consumption has become an increasingly important task. That’s where the Oracle technology-based Knowledge Global environmental management solution comes in. The hosted application helps organizations gather electrical, water, and gas information from buildings and align it with operational behaviors to track measurements and identify potential efficiencies. “ We needed a robust and scalable system that we could deploy globally,” says Ross Sharman, director of Knowledge Global and Oracle Magazine ’s Green IT Architect of the Year. “That’s why we selected Oracle they can deliver on that.” Sharman has built an innovative environment management and monitoring system that leverages Oracle technologies, including Oracle Database, Oracle business intelligence solutions, Oracle Data Integrator, and Oracle Essbase. The solution helps organizations measure; predict; and, over time, reduce their energy consumption and carbon emissions. But lowering energy consumption for business is not enough. “ You’ve got to practice what you preach,” says Sharman. “I’ve got electrical meters in my home to monitor my family’s energy use; one benefit of these behavioral tools is that my four-year-old daughter now turns off lights and televisions when they’re not in use.” ==================================================== City of Copenhagen (Denmark): http://database.us.oracle.com/pls/htmldb/f?p=114:18:663027501341372::::P18_CUST_CODE:22007 ODI FY08 WIN Local gov, city, municipality ODI and Nordics APRIL 09 Please not project is still to be deployed. Do NOT contact customer in direct but ask to Oracle contacts. The City of Copenhagen has recently established a new strategic business unit to develop BI projects with offerings across to their seven independent divisions in the organization. ODI was sold as a part of BI solution including the following: - OBI-EE+ - Oracle Database Enterprise Edition - Real Application Testing - Data Integrator Target Database - OLAP Option - Warehouse Builder Enterprise ETL - Warehouse Builder Data Quality - Warehouse Builder Connector, ESB The technical details of the solutions can be described by Solution architect, Jan Cordtz Strong competition from SAS that already has a heavy footprint in several divisions of City of Copenhagen. SAS was the most natural choice for the customer both in regards to the political level and protection of the existing SAS investment Microsoft was also a strong competitor Public tender but our partner Platon A/S was running the tender process together with the customer and strongly supported and recommended Oracle. Existing database and e-business customer just entered a 3-year Hyperion implementation for a new budget system. The POC was convincing and the price combined with the high level of willingness for succeeding showed by the Oracle team towards the customer project team. Break through not only in regards to all our competitors in the BI market but also towards specifically SAS and Microsoft that both already have a large engagement with the customer. City of Copenhagen is the largest company in Denmark and is a very important reference towards the public market Jan Cordtz Michael Plenov Pia Veirum ------------------- http://database.us.oracle.com/pls/htmldb/f?p=114:18:663027501341372::::P18_CUST_CODE:24276 TDR d.o.o. Rovini (Croatia) ODI FY10 Q4 win Partner IN2. won against SAP BO See complete win story Oracle succesfully presented overall TDR's infrastructure "big picture" where ODI fits just perfectly due to the several reasons: - ODI is very efficient tool for extracting data from heterogeneous systems, - ODI include knowledge module for loading data to Essbase and Oracle EPM applications in which customer was very interested - TDR already has Oracle iAS inplace and planned to migrate to WebLogic, so ODI perfectly fitted into their future SOA/Integration strategy. Question about OWB vs ODI did pop up during the sales process, especially since - before Oracle acquired ODI - we have been presenting OWB to TDR, and since OWB is the most popular and most commonly used ETL tool in Croatia, but we positioned ODI as a package including both technologies, as well as pointing out ODI integration inside of OWB, but since they have many disparate data sources, we positioned ODI as a right choice for their needs. The greatest importance to them was the tool ability to efficiently extract data from SAP datasource, and the partner experience with the projects where DW was built on top of SAP. We managed to satisfy their requests, and successfully brought this deal to completion Implementation of Financial data mart, migration of Sales data mart from Discoverer to new BI technology, Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition – 45 Named User Plus Perpetual Data Integrator and Application Adapter for Data Integration – 2 Processor Perpetual Interactive Dashboard Option – 45 Named User Plus Perpetual Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition Plus – 50 Named User Plus Perpetual Oracle Database Enterprise Edition – 2 Processor Perpetual Oracle Essbase Plus – 25 Named User Plus Perpetual WebLogic Suite – 30 Named User Plus Perpetual Was SAP actually in the account or just competing with BO - was there an RFP? SAP ERP modules were implemented in TDR in 2004., and in 2009. TDR upgraded their SAP application to version 6.0. TDR wanted to provide their management with faster reporting system, standardization of reports through whole company, and consolidate data from multiple applications and datasources. They were looking for BI solution which would be technologically and visually better than existing one (Discoverer), and that could satisfy their needs in following years. They demanded that new BI system provide their business users with the ability to easily create reports on their own, lowering their dependence on IT in this segment. Also, new BI solution should be open to further functionality extensions like KPIs and planning.
