and was held on 13 July
1985, simultaneously, in Wembley
Stadium (London, UK) and John
F.Kennedy Stadium(
Philadelphia, USA).
3. • It was one of the largest-scale satellite link-
ups and television broadcasts of all time: an
estimated 2 billion viewers, across 60
countries, watched the live broadcast.

at LiveAid to help this cause. Some of

Bowie, Paul McCartney;
• In Philadelphia:The
Hooters, Bryan Adams, The
Pretenders, Madonna, Simple
Minds, Mick Jagger, Tina Turner;
news reports stated that between £40 and £50 million had been raised. Now, it is estimated that around £150m has been raised for famine relief as a direct result of the concerts.
