2. Welcome!
The Club for Online Business is a network of college students interested in
learning about all aspects of online business by conducting interviews with
professionals in the field.
3. History
Established Spring of 2016
Founded by Professor Eric Robertson at MiraCosta College
He dreamed of a network of colleges that produced unique educational content
while also serving as a tool to teach those creating the content
4. Goals of the Club
Build your resume
Help you develop strong communication skills
Work collaboratively as a team
Create interesting content through interviews
Foster and understand of the technology needed to conduct interviews
Collaborate and engage with other schools
Have fun!
5. Format of the Meetings
We typically meet once a week
Meetings will usually consist of one of the following:
Setting up an interview
Conducting an interview
Discussing how to get the interview viewed and shared
Reporting results and developing strategies
6. Four Week Cycle
Week 1
Discuss who will be approached for an interview. Create lists of potential interviewees
and why they would be a good fit. Report/debrief results from previous interviews.
Week 2
Prep interview questions and rehearse interviewing skills. Discuss marketing plan.
Week 3
Conduct interview.
Week 4
Discuss marketing strategies to get the word out.
7. “Official On Campus Club” Member Roles
As an on campus club we are required to assign the following four roles:
President- Provides overall leadership and direction
Secretary/Annotator-- Takes notes (minutes) for each meeting
Treasurer Responsible for purchases and accounting (such as business cards)
Club Rep- Attends meetings (usually monthly) and represents our club. Provides reports of
relevant details.
Decide on these roles today, and then secretary will take notes on all member roles.
8. Club for Online Business Roles
Host(s)- Conducts interviews on camera (1-2 people)
Marketing/PR- Works on interview questions, getting people to share and engage with content. Works
heavily with social media. (at least 2 people, no max)
Website Manager- Uploads video interview and written post to the clubforonlinebusiness.com/miracosta
website. Possibly other website design as requested by the club. (at least 1 person, max 3)
Podcast Production Manager- Sets up and breaks down audio and video equipment on interview days.
Works with interviewee to make sure everything works. (at least 1 person, max 3)
Outreach Specialist- Finds people to interview and attends public events to share and grow the club. (at
least 1 person, max 10)

9. Business Cards
Once we have assigned roles, we want to get business cards. We will figure out
the details during our next meeting.
