  • 1. Newspaper Glossary Masthead This panel tells the reader about what is happening in another section of the paper. It is to tempt readers inside the newspaper. Headline The writer’s job title or where they are writing from. Standfirst The ‘main’ body of a news story Byline A heading at the top of an article or page in a newspaper or magazine. Caption Used to add detail that is not included in the headline Bodytext A brief description of the image Skyline The title of a newspaper or magazine at the head of the first or editorial page
