1. QUINSIGAMOND
COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Established in 1963, Quinsigamond Community
College is a public college, offering over 40
Associate Degree and Certificate study options.
2. INTRODUCTION
• Quinsigamond Community College is a premier learning
community…recognized for teaching and learning
excellence, relevant and responsive programming,
students’ success, and community outreach and impact.
We thrive as a vital regional asset and first choice for
transforming lives and sustaining healthy, prosperous
communities. All are welcomed and embraced in our
community, where students come first and faculty and
staff strive to develop potential and help make dreams
come true. (www.qcc.edu).
3. THE CULTURE OF QCC
• The structural and culture of the college is organized to
meet the needs of the students first. QCC serves over
13,000 students annually and the academic needs are a
top priority for the campus. With a business and
academic setting gives the college cultural diversity.
There is a relaxed atmosphere and a “dorm campus”
feeling to it for a community college. The college
innovation and vision keeps growing for the college.
4. OUR VALUES
• Faculty and staff infuse life in our vision and live mission principles by
creating and sustaining a college climate and culture where all are warmly
welcomed, accepted and valued for their individual dignity and worth. We
recognize the importance of diversity and acknowledge the rich and unique
contributions that each community member makes to advance the College.
To this end, the following values guide our individual actions and community
interactions.
• Excellence and Quality
• Integrity and Accountability
• Inclusiveness
• Cooperation and Collaboration
• Respect and Trust
• Open, Civil Communications and Collegiality
• Creativity and Innovation
5. THE LEADERSHIP CULTURE OF THE COLLEGE
• New technology and health program added to the
curriculum is due to the leadership of the college
President who wants the college to grow and to be able
to compete with other surrounding colleges and
universities. President Carberry takes an active role in
making sure that the needs of the staff, faculty, and the
students are fulfilled.
6. COMMUNICATION AND CHANGES OF THE COLLEGE
With her Human Resource leadership style, shows how
much she loves what she do. “You have to have
courage. I think you have to love what you do, and I
certainly love what I do”.

7. RESISTANCE DURING THE CHANGE PROCESS
• Communication for this relocation was sent whenever there
was a change in the status of the relocation and a timetable
was given so that no one is kept in the dark about the
changes.
• Because of the lack of space that the campus has, the move
was received.
• There was some opposition from those who do not accept
change as well as other.
• Some employees felt that the school was wasting money.
8. STRATEGIES USED BEFORE, DURING, & AFTER THE CHANGE
Also explaining the process,
after the decision has been
made by the governance
board to the QCC community
at the All College Day forum
and then the Academic
Division Meeting where all can
have a say.

9. POST-IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES
QCC's downtown campus will span nearly 73,000 square feet
across three floors of the Franklin Street building, Carberry said,
and will eventually serve 2,000 students.
• Delays in renovating the 20 Franklin St. building mean QCC
will only be able to move a portion of its slated programs
downtown for the fall semester….
• "We're hoping that a lot of it is ready" (QCC President Gail Carberry)
• "This is bringing further vitality and life to our downtown"
(City Manager Ed Augustus)
