1. Fusion Purpose
1. To know God
o When we learn about God through teaching, through comprehension,
when someone has explained to us well. The more we learn about God,
the more we want to love him.
o By loving God, we are fulfilling the greatest commandment that Jesus,
during his earthly ministry expounded in his teaching –
Mar 12:30 ESV
(30) And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind and with all your strength.'
Mar 12:33 ESV
(33) And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the
strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt
offerings and sacrifices.quot;
o Loving God with all the understanding means Having
intelligible understanding of a truth (God’s)
o We acquire an intelligible understanding of a truth, in essence
God’s truth and the truth about our Creator through a learning
process.
o Meaning, if someone explains God’s truth well, and someone is
genuinely interested and enticed about learning more and more
about God, they will walk away with comprehension
o For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-
edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit (heb.
4:12)
o So when we study the word of God, it “pierces our hearts”
“makes an impression” or “sharpens us” and this process
occurs through repetition, this is literally what the word
“pierce” implies, our knowledge of God grows through
consistent repetition of diligent study of the word of God and
active listening when the word of God is being taught.
o The word of God reaches through and pierces our hearts
transforming us more into His image
o So that we would grow to know God with full knowledge.
o Our primary purpose and our prayer is that through Fusion and
our worship time together, we would learn to know God in a
comprehensive way
o Our acquired Spiritual knowledge would then be transformed
into spiritual wisdom
2. o The diligent study and presentation of scripture will be the
primary focus of Fusion, because, as Paul said in the book of
Acts, Act 20:32 ESV
(32) And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build
you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
2. To worship God
Psa 95:6 ESV
(6) Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!
The word “worship” literally means to bow down,
•
поклонение, when we are paying homage or respect to
a royalty figure, in our case this is God.
It is an act of humbling yourself before the creator in
•
reverence and awe
It means to bow down before God in the attitude of
•
worship.
It would most naturally refer to an entire “prostration”
•
on the ground, which was a common mode of worship;
but it would also express adoration in any form. The
word rendered “bow down,” means properly to bend, to
bow, spoken usually of the knees
Jesus declared this mandate when he said in Luke 4:8 -
•
You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only
shall you serve.'quot;
The worship of God is both internal and external
•
Worship will occur during Fusion, through praise and
•
through the word of God and through coming into a
state of knowning God genuinely and sincerely.
Joh 4:23 ESV
(23) But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the
Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.
3. To fellowship with others
Heb 10:24-25 ESV
(24) And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
(25) not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one
another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Gathering together is important because
We can encourage one another
We can build one another up in faith and love
We are able to partner with one another in spreading the good news
3. We can pray for one another
We have an opportunity to share with others the way God is working in our life
We can testify about the good works God is doing in our life
We gain knowledge about God which will enable us to love him more
We worship him to give him deserved glory and honor
We fellowship with others to build each other up and come along side those who are in
need of comfort
