1. Foundations of Management 1
•The Management Gurus Project
The idea behind the ‘Gurus’ project is to get students to research some of the
leading management thinkers of our time.
To begin with, your group has the name of a Management Guru. It is your job
to find out as much as you can about your Guru and in particular why they are
so famous. I suggest you use library sources and the internet to obtain your
information. You should also realise that many general management books
are also likely to contain information on your Guru.
In Weeks 44 and 45 you should prepare yourselves to make a 15 minute
group presentation to the rest of the class about your Guru. You should try
and involve all the members of your group and make your presentation as
interesting and as easy to follow as possible. I strongly recommend the use of
visual aids i.e. OHP and Powerpoint software, to enhance the information you
are presenting to your audience.
In addition to the presentation, you must also submit a 3 page written report
concerning your research. The report should give an outline of the Guru’s
main work and the reasons as to why they are famous. The deadline for the
Guru report is Week 45.
If you have any further questions concerning the nature of this assignment,
please get in contact with me.
Good luck with your research!
